Hi
I am thinking which one to get, the duluxe has better power supply control circuitry but will it really make an impact/ I will be looking to overclock i2500k to about 4.0 - 4.3G.

cheers

The P8P67 pro will easily overclock an i5-2500k to 4.3ghz. Me and a few mates setup sandybridge systems. They have had an Asus P8P67, P8P67 deluxe, P8P67 Evo, Msi GD65 and a Gigabyte UD7. Using both i5-2500K and i7-2600K. They all went to 4.6ghz with under 1.35vcore. We were hoping to find the ideal motherboard/cpu combo to hit 5Ghz under 1.4 vcore. We found all the chips overclocked pretty much the same regardless of the motherboard but they all hit an overclocking wall at about 4.7ghz, they would all do 5GHz but required unsafe voltages. The only thing the Asus Deluxe and Gigabyte UD7 offered was being able to achieve 4.6Ghz on ever so slightly lower vcore but the difference was minimal. Also all of the above motherboards would do 4-4.2 Ghz on close to stock voltages. Any other questions you have just ask mate.

Just for the record what memory works well to overclock to 4.4G for example, I was told that the memory should be with 0.5v of CPU voltage but this cannot be as most memory is 1.65v and i2500k is max 1.3v I think. Or was this relating some other voltage?

I went for the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe Rev.B3 because for £170, the 2 extra SATA 6GB Ports and the USB3 Front Panel Unit seemed like good value to me. Early days I know, but so far im very impressed.:)

unless you need the deluxe - i wouldnt bother.

im picking up a Pro tomorrow.
because i have a 5GHz i7 going in it. the pro can do a 5ghz clock easy
so i would put safe money on it being more than capable of up to the same on an i5

Neither,im getting rid of my Deluxe too many issues:(, (currently using 1204 bios)
Disappointed big time,im installing a MSI GD65 over the weekend instead and will wait for ASUS to exchange for a B3 Rev.

No doubt the Deluxe has a better VR than the GD65 but ill be happy with a 4.2-4.5Ghz OC.

Why not try the latest bios 1305? My new deluxe B3 came with it and its working just fine?

I already have the new MSI B3 board next to me ready for install over the weekend, ive lost all enthusiasm for this board now im afraid:(.

And also with the upcoming Asus exchange about to start and as i have a new MB its hardly worth flashing the bios now,i could have done with a new bios that fixes the random freezing weeks ago.

Fair comment I guess, they have been very slow sorting these problems out from what I have read. Lucky I got the B3 version or I might feel the same ;)

no deluxes in UK

I have been waiting for a B3 deluxe to appear in the UK for a couple of weeks. My supplier is saying that they do not know whe they are coming and they do not even know if they have been shipped from wherever, but Pros are around.

I initially wanted to get the deluxe but don't want to wait too long.

Apart from the difference in ports, the marvell sata controller does not have hyper-duo which might help ssd management and reset buttons are missing and there is only 1 lan port. 12 phase power is surely enough.

These do not seem mto be enough to justify hanging around for the Deluxe or paying $40+ dollars more. I will be overclocking but they both seem to be the same on that score so why pay more and wait?

I am not an expert so please set me straight if I have got this wrong.

The rest of my proposed syhstem: i7-2600K Overclocked @ 4.60GHz, 8GB Mushkin Blackline #996776 (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz 9-9-9-24, and a Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced CPU Cooler, GTX460

The Deluxe is available online in the UK. Ive just done a quick search and found 2 suppliers with stock.

But like others say, if you dont need the extra's on the Deluxe there is no point spending the extra cash.
