The article does seem like hype, its also possible they will triple council tax...

The bigger economic picture also comes into play here, if they put road tax up on all cars band B and up, its going to make a lot of cars un-drivable, un sellable, and essentially worthless.

I think I'm F or G, cant remember, my tax is currently £250 a year

It harks back to the fuel duty bolt-on argument though, it's the fairest way to do it, so it becomes truly pay as you go... a person with a small car doing 20k a year is worse than someone who has a big car who gets the train to work and only does about 3k miles if that, like me

I don't doubt that the government would love to double the tax on certain classes, but thankfully its not going to happen. Though I do accept that some form of a rise is likely.
