It's not just him anyway, there are a bunch of Lybian people who want rid of Gaddafi. What makes you think you know better than them?

Libyan.

Yes I know there are Libyans who want rid of him. Some of them are trying a military coup, perhaps you saw it on the TV. For some reason, we now refer to these people as 'civilians' and have started attacking Gaddafi's forces for responding to the coup attempt. Even stranger, the people who accept this as reasonable.

Classic propaganda, call the military rebels 'civilians' as it illicits more sympathy for them and makes our military intervention seem justified.
 
Ddog, an international committee populated by leaders of countries each voted in by the population of said countries all convened together to vote on taking action in Libya, they together voted in favour of action based on the information they have on the events unfolding in the country.

Explain to me better conditions to make such decisions.

They subtly change the language and hope nobody notices, which most don't as they typically have a very short attention span. And most people rarely think, or question what they are fed by the media or our politicians.

This civil war broke out quite simply because Gaddafi is unable and far too delusional to accept the will of his people for change. Rather than step down (e.g. Egypt), he decides to try to brutally crush any resistance and to maintain the status quo which suits him, not his people. Those who are mainly fighting back are defectors who have nowhere else to go. Waiting for the inevitable is just as bad, so they fight. The 'majority' you speak of are probably too afraid to be on the receiving end of a modern army when you have only rocks to defend yourself with. It's a no-brainer why there isn't swathes of people; the Libyans knew they were on their own and in a losing war of attrition. Chances are you'll see more people come out of the woodworks now the resolution has been passed and even more when the first plane gets shot down.

I thought Italy weren't going to be involved, other than allowing planes to fly from there? bbc just showed Italian Typhoons being readied:o
