Do steam VAC bans ban u from single player

just reading conflicting reports that some people have been banned for using xpadder. Just want to confirm exactly what a VAC ban is and does it think xpadder is a cheat?

What is xpadder? VAC bans are permanent, and will ban you from online only for that game you cheated on.

hmm can you confirm you got banned from steam with xpadder though

seems odd as its a useful program for joypads why is it a ban lol.

or have you been banned for something else

xpadder is just a way so player can bind certain actions in the a game (i.e move, jump .etc) to their game controller (xbox controller, ps3 controller .etc). No it will not ban you.

VAC bans are a ban from VAC secured servers. I'd be extremely surprised if people were receiving bans for using Xpadder.

i agree i think its something else

i dont think xpadder will cause a vac ban

from what i understand vac bans are based on known cheats only so its very unlikely you will get banned from using a program like xpadder or from anything thats not a cheat

there are posts about it though i only asked as i used to use xpadder as it is a useful progam.

for instance in need for speed world i couldnt change the keys to same as joypad.

im sure if you got banned for it it would be removed if it was only to do with a legit prog

Valve are too lenient if you ask me. If you're caught cheating you should have your hands taken off. or your chin if you're gareth.

Is it? I was under the impression that it applied to every game that uses the VAC system. So banned in one, banned in them all. Why else is there a global status of it in your Steam settings? :confused:

Nobody knows what is a "cheat" as Valve do not tell the reasons for a ban.

VAC Enabled Games

Valve games

The Valve Anti-Cheat system is enabled for servers displaying the Secured shield logo. Using custom skins, sounds or maps and playing multi-player mods which do not modify core .EXE and .DLL files will not result in a VAC ban

Cheating in a Source Engine game that was released prior to Left 4 Dead will result in a VAC ban from Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Day of Defeat: Source, and Team Fortress 2.

Cheating in a Gold Source engine game will result in a VAC ban from Counter-Strike, Condition Zero, Ricochet, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress Classic, Half-Life: Deathmatch, and Deathmatch Classic

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
VAC is enabled on all multiplayer servers, public and private. Any modifications to the game other than editing config files can result in a VAC ban. Examples of such modifications include console enablers, VAC disablers, and server hosting mods.

A VAC ban in Modern Warfare 2 only affects Modern Warfare 2.
