Just ordered an Asus GTX480

Yeah I would go with the reference designs when running SLI, way too much heat left in the case with the gigabyte 480 type cooler when run in SLI.

But a pair of reference GTX480's would be painfully loud. I would go for the gigabyte cards and buy the best case fans available.

That gigabyte cooler looks like it's about to take off with all those fans on it. I'll pass thanks.

:confused::confused: You would rather take somethink thats gonna sound like its gonna take off over somethink that looks like its gonna take off? Because 3 fans cooling it at slient speed is gonna be a lot quieter then asus reference fan

So what you're saying is you'd rather take an inferior product based on insane paranoia?

Or was that ignorant sarcasm?:rolleyes::p

No, just personal preference. I just don't like the way the gigabyte card looks covered in fans. Also, I prefer the heat to be exhausted out the back of my case and the reference cooler does this.

And it's hardly an inferior product is it? It's the same GPU which will perform exactly the same. So the cooling is a little different? Doesn't really matter to me. Value for money is more important to me.

Also, there seems to be quite a few people reporting issues with these gigabyte cards. Another reason to go with the Asus.

and the game with the asus (though its not the best they could have done) OR do gigabyte supply a freebie with the se or soc?

No point in arguing over it chaps, you pays yer money and makes your choice. Personally i cannot hear my 480 at ide 30% fan speed, sits at 42 C in a room at 24 c ambient, and under load (i.e. gaming, which is why i bought it, not run benchmark software) i have it running around 70 C at 50 % fan speed. Which seems fine to me.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Gigabyte card, what issues have you heard about?

Read the thread on this forum. Although i think that is more aimed at the Super overclocked ones. Many people are reporting that they are not stable at the manufacturers overclocked speeds and that some arent very good overclockers.

You don't want it. It's probably the most boring, repetitive game i have ever played. Absolutely nowhere near even half as good as the original Far Cry.
