Well after much cursing and shouting and buying a replacement Mobo Iv finally found that its my PSU thats given up. So I need a replacement as soon as.

Specs

8800GTX
GA-P35C-DS3R
3 Hard drives
Sound Blaster
3GB DDR2 or 4GB DDR3

What would be the minimum PSU I could get away with and most reliable. I dont want to spend anymore than I have to.

Cheers

I wouldn't use any companys own brand power supply, it's likely to be some crappy generic rebrand.

I would probably try and get that 530w Be Quiet linked above.

Would the 530w Bequiet be suitable if I upgrade in the future to

i5
Socket 1155/1156 Mobo
One of the new GPU's

Just did a quick PSU calculator...eh calculation with a few different specs and it looks like 530w isnt enough?

Pfffft, you can run that system off a 300w PSU.

Put it this way, I have a Phenom II X4 @ 3.8GHz, and a HD6870 (high end graphics card) with 3 HDDs and 3 LED fans - I'm not even drawing 380W from the wall.

PSU calculators do not tell you what your rig uses but suggest a suitable power supply. The rig in my siggy only pulls a max of 375w at the wall and even then only by running Linx and Furmark stability test both at the same time.

How many amps does the bequiet 530w supply to the 12v rail. Also is it a single 12v rail or does it have more than 1?

Yip. Just ordered the BeQuiet 530w this morning. Be here tomorrow. Hope to Jebus that it bring my PC back from the dead.

I dont think anyone answered this but how many PCI-E connections does the BeQuiet have as Im sure you know I need 2x6pin for the 8800GTX. I know I can get an molex to PCI adapter but the PSU will be here tomorrow and I dont want to have to wait again if I have to get an adapter

Hi there,

This PDF shows that this PSU has two 6+2 PCI-E power connections - so enough for connecting up a single 8800GTX.
