***Official Shogun Total War 2 Thread***

The agent system really is perfection in this game. Nothing more satisfying than using a monk to incite a rebellion, them capture the castle, then you to capture it from them - all while keeping the peace with everyone :)

I need to get better at this game, at this rate i wont become Shogun any time soon.
Already at about 74 turns in and i only have like 9 provinces captured.

Playing as Date. Been in and out of war with Takeda a lot of times.

The realm divide sounds ridiculous and renders diplomacy useless (unless you have money to pay your allies), either it needs to be toned down or reworked as every clan vs me doesn't sound appealing and would get boring very quickly.

So did anyone else's retail box come with a slip with an activation code for the limited edition content?

Yeh I was thinking this too. Seems very artificial. Apparently once you do become shogun, the other clans still all try to attack you still.

Agreed. They did needed to balance the endgame, but as soon as realm divide appears it undoes everything you have built up - feels way to artificial at the moment. Hopefully they will make it optional.

Mine did, but the local shop only had the limited edition version with the extra content.

Loving the game so far - plenty of depth, despite the small map. I find it takes a lot more patience and you spend more time just thinking about where to go next compared to the previous incarnations of Total War. Maybe that's just because I'm getting old :D

Think I'm going to post a series of videos of all the epic field battles I play as I make my way through the Date hard campaign - don't think I'll bother with the siege battles as it's usually sitting in a castle for 20 minutes and chopping enemies down with arrows - not particularly interesting. Currently end of 1572 and own 15 provinces, with about 10 large (field) battles having taken place.

Has realm divide started yet? Can't imagine how you would deal with that on hard. Are you also surrounded by potential enemies? The best way to deal with realm divide seems to be to turtle and very slowly push out - capturing Kyoto makes things a little easier since you can churn out lots of units from a relatively centralised location.

Yes realm divide has just happened, not that it will make any difference as any clan you come into contact with when one of your provinces hits their borders, turns hostile towards you if not immediately, after a few turns. Had to fight Takeda and Hojo simultaneously, them both being allies. Also had Tsutsui walking through their provinces into mine, as they were also allied with them. Wiped out Hojo a while ago/ Takeda has been causing quite a few problems, especially when they walked past me into the middle of my base with 1 and a half stacks of troops, and Imagawa clan popped its head up and decided to attack me from the front with a full stack, so I had to choose who to deal with first. Now have most of it under control, an army on the north of the map, and an army on the south, pushing into the middle with both armies and centralising them, before moving west and sending each army north/south again, with the hope of finishing off takeda.

I'll post a couple screens of my current map situation.

Couple of tips. First send a boat out around the whole coast I think it helps discover other clans = more trade opportunities. Second, Recruit Metsuke and get them to over see your highest producing regions as they increase tax income by like an extra 5% at base level.
