So i built a pc back in december, heres the list of components bought:-
MSI GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366)
Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1)
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair HX 850W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-850HXUK)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Retail (Full Version)(GFC-00025)
Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Low Latency Triple Channel (PVT36G1600LLK)
Antec 902 Nine Hundred Two (V3) Ultimate Gaming Case (with USB3.0 Support) - Black
Corsair Hydro H70 High-Performance CPU WaterCooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM2/AM3)
Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST32000542AS)
Razer Naga 5600dpi MMO Laser Gaming Mouse
Belkin N52TE Gaming Tool (F8GFPC200EA)
Sony Optiarc AD-7260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
Now this was running fine, had no problems atall, i then decided to upgrade to 2 gtx580s:-
MSI GeForce GTX 580 OC 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card x2
In the same system, this also ran fine until i switched to using 2 displays @1080p from the one i had originally, at which point i started to get display driver stopped responding and has restarted. I have tried google to find a solution for this and it has come to my attention i may not have a powerful enough PSU(?) I did also run a furmark test and upload it with results here http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/furmark_score_190.php?id=154728 and the results seem a bit low to me, but I'm kinda new to this.
This display driver crashing happens quite often, when playing games or even just watching videos or on youtube, it will happen on average every 3/4 hours. I have tried updating drivers and such but nothing has changed. So i thought I'd come on here and see if there's anything else i can do without buying a 1200w PSU and just hoping it will fix it.
Thanks, Deren
EDIT: Any tests that are needed that can help just ask and i will run them
