My ASUS GTX 480 today.

All i can say is....what an awesome card. Upgraded from 2 x GTX 260 in sli and its so much better!

Only thing i can say about it is when it gets to about 70% or over fan speeds its a bit loud.

So im thinking about watercooling it and overclocking it to solve this...

+ obviously the 480 water block which OCUK dont stock.

how is that for a card cooling setup?

i might also want to SLI in future.

It's really not worth just watercooling a gpu. It's expensive, and you don't really need to keep gpus that cool unless you're doing a big OC.

I would look at aftermarket air cooling solutions which are equally quiet, if not quieter than the radiator fans you'd have to use. Check out the arctic cooler xtreme - inside a case it's honestly completely silent :).

If you have had the card for less than a week they have to take it back.

Yes both the HD6950 and three fan GTX480 are as fast and make much less racket. You also dont need to void your warranty and your £250~ better off from not buying the water cooling system.

The £200 you spent on the GTX480, and the £250~ for the water cooling would buy you a pair of HD6950's.

Just got an Asus 480 to replace my single 260. Installing tonight and hoping to see quite an upgrade in performance :) I'm not sure the noise will bother me unless it's really silly.

As Jigger mentioned send it back under the "distance selling regulations" (dsr) and get the quieter Gigabyte version which I presume is still on offer for £202.
