Hi i just bought this card and it will arrive on monday/tuesday

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-116-MS

Unfortunately i saw on another computer sales site (not naming them) sold the same card but the "OC" edition which is overclocked to 800mhz and for 5 pounds less...

Should I try and get a refund on the OCUK card and buy from that site or is it worth too much hassle?

What would u guys do?

Thanks

Thanks but Im a noob at overclocking never done it before, wouldnt even know where to begin...Firstly im going to try overclocking my i5 when i build the pc on tuesday

and that was from a detailed guide that even scares a noob like me

I really wouldn't bother. It's MUCH easier to do than OCing a CPU.

It's VERY simple to do. Here are some pics to give you an idea.

You download something called MSI Afterburner here

Then when you open it, you should see something like this:

You can drag all the sliders up and down as you wish, and to OC, you just drag it to 820 and hit accept.

Then it should look like this

After dragging the slider up to 820, hit apply and you're done.

Still, call OcUK sales and ask if they would be nice enough to give you £5 as a competitor was cheaper. They would rather keep a customer than lose them to a competitor

Be careful about the OC version. Early revision didn't increase the necessary voltage out of factory, so you'll get blue screen of death or crash when playing games like Crysis. MSI claimed to release a BIOS update but I have yet to seen one on their website. If you can't find the BIOS update but get caught in the problem, try increasing voltage yourself.

holy S@@T! one hour till shogun 2 finishes downloading...better not, what voltage increases? for the card? ho would i do that i wouldnt even know what would be a necessary volt increase, ill run the game see what happens...

As for the 5 pounds, sure i could try but at the end of the day the card is working and the service was excellent

You could have a look into the comments on the newegg US site. Might be helpful. This is a very nice card besides the voltage thing. Probably the quietest 2-slot 580 in the market for now.

You can use msi afterburner to moniter temps ingame.go to settings/monitering scroll down and select gpu temp/fan duty/core clock and click on show in osd box
