Bigger box!
Hi all,

Following this thread, I've decided to play through....

thelegendofzeldaalinkto.jpg

This is the first time I've played a Zelda game, and according to a few of you guys it's pretty brutal in comparison to more contemporary games so I'm quite looking forward to it.

I'd like to do it in the spirit of this thread, where I re-played FFVII and posted screenies as I went and everyone kinda joined in and got to reminisce.
I've put **SPOILERS** in the title because my intention is ultimately to finish the game and so I don't want to ruin it for anyone who fancies giving it a play through themselves, but as this is my first play through of any Zelda game, I'd appreciate it if people didn't post any spoilers for anything before I get there. There are bound to points where I ask for advise (let's face it, I'm not that bright!) so if I do, a gentle nudge in the right direction wouldn't go a miss, and if I miss anything really vital then perhaps a subtle hint that I've missed something would be good too, but as this is my first play through I'd like to do it pretty legitimately.
So if I miss a weapon here or some armour there (Ha, I don't even know if this game has weapons or armour!!) then I'd rather go without than just be led through the game.

Going to knock up a bacon sarnie and a large mug of tea and get cracking, hope you enjoy :)

Enjoy! I've completed this 4 times now, and each time has been just as fantastic! :D

First impression, it looks fantastic for a 20 year old game!! Perhaps I'm really showing my age :(

No way can this be 20 years old? I played this as a kid...

I dont think I should be able to even remember this... I am 23, I remember playing pong, pacman and space invaders on the Atari 2600, getting a NES and playing Mario, Duck Hunt and Faxanadu then getting a SNES with Super Mario All Stars and getting Zelda and loving it....

Just out of interest mate, how are you playing this/taking screenies?

Wouldn't mind giving this a go myself having never played it!

Holy **** 1991, released in the US 1992. I'd honestly never realised the game was that old, but when I think that OOT is almost 15 years old 1997...then it does seem more realistic.
I may just have to crack my SNES out again sometime soon and have a go at this, Metroid, Tactics Ogre etc, Super Mario RPG, ChronoTrigger etc :)

It does not seem that long ago.... OOT seems quite recent.... Damn! Its kind of sad to, to think of the leap from 1991 to 1997 in terms of graphics compared to now... Yes they are much better now but we dont advance any where near the rate we use to!

This thread will be much win, good move Chris!
I can imagine many people browsing the console forum are about to have lives ruined as they buckle and play through this game.

Amen...so many games and shows to watch, and I can feel the drawer with all my SNES games in staring at my back crying out to be played...
I never did finish Illusion of Gaia...

i'm 22 and i played this game when i was a kid. i thought it just come out and not that i was playing a game that was 4-5 years old already. great game imo one of the best. i always preferred fighting people to weird creatures

Great game, subscribed!

But hopefully future screenshots are a bit smaller?

I replayed this recently but I cant remember how. Have they remade it on the nintendo ds? Or was I playing on a snes emulator on the ds?

When I was about 12 maybe I bought this game off a friend for £3. I had no idea what the game was about only that my friend really recommended it. I had always seen screenshots in magazines and thought it wasnt for me.

Actually I had a similar opinion of Secret of Mana which I have yet to play. Maybe its worth me pluging in my snes and finding a copy somewhere!

Hmmmmm, few of these fairly obvious doors knocking about. I'm assuming they open later??
Have tried pushing, pulling, striking, boomeranging (is that last one even a word??).

Yes, it was me. I know, I know, I'm all heroic and stuff!! :D

Always been happy to grind in games, but so I don't waste time unnecessarily.... In a screen like this I'm likely to chop down every bush to see it there are any goodies, is it worth it??
