Yeah this a bit of a moan thread but hey...

Time was you could go onto the internet and escape the real world, first came the adverts, then came google... Now it really is just an extension of what goes on in the real world. The data collection on the net is starting to get stupid now, ok, I was fine sticking in my name and email address to sign up to something (could always use a spam account for that if necessary). Then the date of birth, fine, then the address... Ok, getting a little annoying now, I can't as easily change my address if I start getting loads of spam post... Now it's mobile numbers.... Yeah, because I want my longstanding mobile number spammed, it's slightly harder to change than an email address and most of us don't have spare spam ones to use...

When I trust a company to actually do as they say as well as protect my data I'll give them my number...

In before the...
"don't sign up to them"
"don't use dodgy websites"
"don't be such a CT"
"Just give them it..."
yady yada...;)

Anyone else find the excessive data collection going on at the moment a pain?

Haha, wonder when you'll have to stick your mobile number in those accounts too... :p

Oh, and a retina scan...

Rarely get asked for address/phone number unless it's necessary, if a registration form asks me for a mobile number or address and it's irrelevant to the service they are providing I just make it up.

I find I live at either MS or Googles head office a lot of the time... :p

Are there any guerillamail type things for mobile numbers?

Loads of websites do recently and it seems to be becoming more common.
