Hello,

I’ve just treated myself to a SSD and will install the OS tomorrow, I’ve got Windows 7 64bit Pro. Is it possible to download a version with SP1 already applied and use my legit key from the non SP1 version?

Or should I just install my version and then use Windows Update?

Cheers

Provided your windows 7 is not an oem tied to HP/Dell etc then yes. I assume you have a suitable download site in mind?!

It’s the Retail version, just thought a slip streamed SP1 version would be better (given my limited knowledge). I'm more than happy to instal the Retail version i have if there is no difference to the hard drive.

I have a suitable download site in mind...

Cheers

Just install your version and use windows update. No reason not to.

installing windows with the service-pack pre-applied makes the system faster, causes less file clutter and redundancy on the drive and drastically reduces the possibility of something going horribly wrong meaning you have to reinstall.

I've just performed a system properties on my W7 system and it just says Windows 7 Home Premium, no service pack. I wasn't aware of SP1 coming out yet unless it's at RC level.

I knew the old commands to slipstream Windows 2000 to SP4 but I guess it's quite different some 10-odd years later with W7.
