BEIJING -- China called for cease-fire in Libya where the U.S. and European nations have launched airstrikes to enforce a U.N. no-fly zone.

All parties must "immediately cease fire and resolve issues through peaceful means," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said at a regularly scheduled news conference, citing unconfirmed reports that the airstrikes had caused civilian deaths.

Oh dear, looks like we've woke up China....

Who cares if it is about oil?

I want my car to run.

Seriously, I'm glad our country tries to secure us the resources we need.

wow your a piece of junk arent you. dont you ever think about the hundred of thousands of people that died during the iraq war? and for what? so you can run your car?

This isnt a direct reply to anyone but just the anti war people here...

"If you examine the record of the so-called the anti-war movement in this country and imagine what would have happened had its counsel been listened to over the last 15 and more years, you would have a world in which the following would be the case:

Saddam Hussein would be the owner and occupier of Kuwait, he would have succeeded in the annexation, not merely the invasion, but the abolition of an Arab and Muslim state that was a member of the Arab League and of the United Nations. And with these resources as we now know because he lost that war, he was attempting to equip himself with the most terrifying arsenal that it was possible for him to lay his hands on. That's one consequence of anti-war politics, that's what would have happened.

In the meanwhile, Slobodan Milošević would have made Bosnia part of a greater Serbia, and Kosovo would have been ethnically cleansed and also annexed. The Taliban would be still in power in Afghanistan if the anti-war movement had been listened to, and al-Qaeda would still be their guests. And Saddam Hussein, with his crime family, would still be privately holding ownership over a terrorized people in a state that's been most aptly described as a concentration camp above ground and a mass grave underneath it.

Now if I had that record politically, I would be extremely modest, I wouldn't be demanding explanations from those of us who said it's about time that we stop this continual capitulation to dictatorship, to racism, to aggression and to totalitarian ideology. That we will not allow to be appeased in Iraq, the failures in Rwanda, and in Bosnia, and in Afghanistan, and elsewhere. And we take pride in having taken that position, and we take pride in our Iraqi and Kurdish friends who are conducting this struggle, on our behalves I should say."

I really do try and understand "super powers" and their politics, iraq, afgan etc i could accept. I just cant understand how they can justify protecting Libyans while ignoring Zimbabwe, Congo, Iran, Sudan to name a few. "They" cant hide behind the excuse "genocide" if they dont practice what they preach..... I feel utterly ashamed to be apart of this so called modern world!! What a joke! We'll never advance as a race while nations only care about them selves, it would appear we're doomed to a life of no hope while half the world suffer in ways we'll never truly know and the rest of us live happy lifes at their expense, i dont want my daughter growing up in a world like that ... Deep i know but meh!!!

I've never heard of them before, and anyway we weren't listening to 'RT'... we were listening to a radio show host as far as I understood.

What would you do rypt?

I dont really understand why we are so bothered about going into Libya and enforcing a no fly zone when it seems like France is the only other country thats helping (or will stick with the no fly zone plan)

Plus the fact we have hardly any money left in the defence pot.

IMO we should save this money for when/if we are invaded or spend it on military technology. That or help Japan

Dont USA have a fighter plane that "costs more than Australia" A trillion dollars??

You are listening to something being broadcast by RT, which is propaganda central.

All media outlets push bias or propaganda?

I was listening to a man, not a broadcast studio.

The Russian ones tend to just push BS ...

Russian news recently reported that supermarkets in the UK had started auctioning off expired food as apparently many people in this country were too poor now to buy food.

During the winter they reported that we were all frozen, dying due to snow. And that we had run out of heating gas.

That is not bias, that is just state sponsored propaganda.

.....

and where was this reported rypt?

Anyway as I said before all outlets support bias or worse.

I was listening to one guy, who apparantly phoned in? Or now perhaps its all more sinister than that, and he is a plant.

And you are sent to rescue us.

It is just one opinion.
