Hey, do any of you know when you are allowed to claim the dole after being a student ( university )? is there a certain amount of time after your last loan? Been applying for jobs but recieving nothing back, so looks like im going to be stuck on it for a while.

You can claim anytime just ring the freephone number they set up your appointment to register etc at your local job Centre might take a few weeks before you get any money mind.

How so? you have left education and are therefore a job seeker, you pay back your loan one you earn over a certain threshold.

I claimed after graduating. Luckily, I now have a job. Going to the JC every week was depressing.

You can claim from the date that your university determines that you have finished your course. The form can be backdated to this point, though they'll probably want documentation from your uni.

First of all you've finished school, it's "you're". I get enough bloody stick for that and I didn't even finish college so you bloody well aren't getting away with it.

Second, you can claim at any time as long as you are not CURRENTLY a student and are seeking employment. "Currently" in this case means you have passed your course end date.

Also generally if you ask a question it's rather rude to tell someone who offers you an answer that they are wrong, you asked the question after all, if you already knew the answer why bother?
