What tyres on small wheels? (MX-5)

Toyo T1-R

I wouldn't, soft side wall and really doesn't inspire confidence when turning. If you want a good dry gripping tyre than I would recommend some Parada Spec 2s. They were ok in the wet for me but I never pushed it in those conditions. Bad wear rate though along with the T1-R's.

I had Parada Spec 2s on my Yaris before I had my current car, I would rate them over the Toyos I now have.

Changed to Federal 595 RS-R and feel great so far. Similar tyre to an R888 but a bit cheaper. First trackday on them on Sunday so we'll see how they stack up!

Everyone seems to say the toyo's sidewalls are incredibly soft, i've found that this isn't the case - it's the treadblocks that seem to move when they are new due to the soft compound.
After they have worn down a little i noticed that the handling felt sharper and the 'soft side wall' effect became a lot less noticeable.

You used R888 before? I'd be interested to know what you think of the RS-R. A lot of people on DW/TrackCulture rave about them, but they are sponsored by Federal so a little biased.
