People with crap graphics are easily identifiable when they shoot you through smoke!

I play 6048x1200, high settings and have 100fps (after FINALLY getting my GPUs to go above 80%). But I am worse off than someone with a 9400 lol

Hardcore rules because you cannot see a virtual orange triangle above someone's head. Lol!

How about don't try and cheat? People who lower settings so the trees don't load in fully and stuff are lame as hell.

How on earth is lowering graphical settings cheating? Are people who don't have a powerful enough card to play graphics on high, so they're forced to play on low cheating? No, just like altering FOV isn't classed as cheating.

Hardcore sucks :p

I followed your xfire 6970 thread with interest though. Good to see you've got it working - I'm tempted to upgrade my eyefinity setup to xfire 6970s too.

Only professionals play hardcore mate. I hate emptying a clip into someone on normal only to have them shotgun me :(

Driversweeper, 10.12 CCC with 11.2 drivers, +fullproc startup, RadeonPro and 70% fans = 90fps and above on high settings
Love it

Good luck

If a player can see you better than you can see them then you are at a disadvantage. Was playing the day before yesterday behind the second rush objective area on Luguna Presa, sitting right next to another player with a sniper rifle. I noticed that he was able to see players jumping down off the large rock outcropping over the village yet all I could see was the bloom effect from the sky.

I also think the dust and sand is something that should be identical for everyone, yet I understand this is not the case.

To consider running a lower setting to be cheating is ridiculous in my opinion. If the game allows players to remove trees just by moving a slider bar, or choosing Low then how can it be cheating? Even modifying a configuration file is not cheating.

Whatever next? People who have triple screens are cheating? Someone with a i7 and a 6990 is cheating because they have a fast PC?

lol @ hc

anyway lowering settings to see stuff isnt new but in bfbc2 i play with everything on max just to enjoy the graphics and so on.

does nvidia ambient occlusion work in this ? if it does you could use that . in cod 4 you can basically see people through smoke with it on :D

think hbo or whatever its called does it aswell.

one of my mates is colour blind and if he turns up the brightness on his screen he can see a slight halo round people  terminator eye hack :D

Grey area this one, while it is not technically cheating (afterall you've not bought and installed a paid for cheat) you are 'bending' the system as to give yourself an distinct advantage over any other players who do not have the same settings as you, hence why I think games/competitions like this are mute because it doesn't depend solely on skill - it's also how you're 'working' the settings to be able to see through trees/smoke/bloom etc when the other players can't.

Surely there's something that can be done about this to make it more reasonable for people who don't want to bend the system to their advantage simply by making all the settings low.

EDIT: I do however believe it does say something about what type of gamer you are if you're looking to get every advantage over all the other players. I myself like to enjoy the game and the graphical detail it brings.

I'm just after numbing down certain effects because it's really starting to annoy me now and i don't want to reduce things like character models, vehicle models etc, just mainly reduce the intensity of effects like bloom.

not that i care

but eyefinity is kinda cheating :p i dont have such a high FOV :D

Eyefinity sucks for FPS games, unless you have hours of practice with it, and I mean HOURS upon hours :p

Imo, one big screen with a high resolution is a lot easier, Eyefinity is just for wanting to have nice visuals.

Only way I'd see this working would be to have server set detail levels.

Games like rFactor can force cockpit view from the server side, so I don't think it would be that hard for Dice to implement.

Whether players would throw their toys out of their prams or not, due to having their gfx settings 'dictated' to them, is another matter entirely :)

This is true. I still suck on my eyefinity setup compared to single monitor.

Then again, I suck on LCDs in general compared to my old-old-old 17" CRTs.

(I use portrait mode in eyefinity btw - so fov is pretty similar to a normal monitor)

Only nabs play normal mate. What is realistic about getting spraying into with an M60 and then one-timing someone with a 1911? Yeah, keep your normal and let better players play hc... actually, does being able to kill someone with 4 bullets make you a better player? Or does the fact that THEY can kill YOU with 4 bullets make it better? Doubting myself now but prefer hc anyway...

Have you used Eyefinity? How does it suck? What sucks about having 6050x res, one big screen in the middle and two either side for extra FOV? And I managed to get 7 straight best player medals with my setup last night. Love it

I agree that it sucks with a 5850 or a single 5870 but with two 6870s and some tweaking, it looks awesome. BC2, AVP, Metro, Batman AA... just wow!

Don't comment on EF unless you have tried it. And I suspect you haven't tried it because you'd love it otherwise :)

The side monitors are used when running forward to ensure some little nab isn't trying to pick you ogg

lol yes normal is for noobs because you have to be able to aim instead of just holding down the trigger and spraying like hc ;)

I'd say the guy one shotting you with a 1911 is better than the m60 spammer who's missing (especially as it still only takes 1 shot to kill with the m60) because he's still going to 1 shot you in hc and you're still gonna miss with your medic spam.

It's like playing joke CS rounds with everyone slapped down to 1 hp, doesn't take any more skill just means you can camp and spray and win.
