***Official Shogun Total War 2 Thread***

WIth Realm Divide, once everyone declares war on you does it stay that way until you kill 'em all?

Yep, they all ally against you and I think you get a hit of -5 to relations every turn. Be prepared for it! For the first 10-20 turns all clans will send their primary full stack armies to your castles. I turtled for a little while and dealt with these, then I pushed out. To be honest I wasn't expecting it - if I had I would have not captured that final castle and would have built up a few more armies.

Blimey! I'm currently the Western-most faction on the western island. I've only taken 3 provinces but already pretty everyone hates me. 3 of them have just sent full stacks against my nearest castle - I've repelled the first one... wonder if I can hold out while I send my small but samaurai-filled army round the back!

Don't think I've ever been challenged quite like this in a TW game!

Why are people modding the unit run speeds and fire rates? They're balanced as it is.

I don't get it either

Playing as the Shamazu? Certainly a lot easier if you can just fight on one front and aren't sorrounded on all fronts.

Really learning the hard way that generals are extremely weak! I was so used to using my general's cav to flank the enemy in previous TW games. Now they are rubbish!

Edit: Rubbish in combat, anyway.

Still on my first campaign but from what I can make out CA have given you the option of developing each general now, with the new general perk system, if you fill I think its the Warrior path ? your general becomes much more powerful and able to handle his self on the battlefield.

Think its working ok so far its nice to have different generals with strengths and weakness, it changes the overall feel of all of them on the campaign map and battlefield.

They do! I've seen loads of samurai bent over backwards, windmilling their arms and dodging matchlock musket fire :D

I just peppered an emen y unit to death with 8 archer samaurai. You could barely see the last guy for arrows in him.

I must say, it is a nice change to see dying people roll around the battlefield for a bit, rather than everyone insta-dying. Didn't think I'd say this...but I doubt I'll be going back to Medieval 2 for a long time!

At last a game worthy of the series!

answer anyone? Is the game cpu/gpu hungry?

For what it's worth I have a weak CPU (Core2Duo 6600) and a good GPU (HD5850). I'm running the game very nicely at 1280x1024 (I know that's a low resolution by today's standards) and I only experience noticeable frame rate drops when speeding up large scale sieges. The game runs smoother for me than both Empire and Napoleon Total War. I should add that most settings are on Ultra.
