install windows 7 ultimate on a asus eee 1001ha netbook?

specs
intel atom 270 cpu
1gb RAM
150g hdd

if not what OS would you run it on for optimal performance?

also does anyone know how much RAM this netbook can hold? I really would like to upgrade the RAM but unsure if its possible

Ultimate no

Basic Yes

However I would want to increase the ram to 2gb. Realalisticly XP would be the best option for it but I have ran windows 7 basic on netbooks with only 512mb of ram in the past.
 
I have win7 ultimate running on an N455 atom netbook but only because I found a ridiculously cheap advantage upgrade from win7 starter at £35. It did run on 1Gb of ram, I have now put 2Gb in. There is no reason why not to use ultimate over home basic or premium and it does have advantages for security as a netbook is easier to lose or get stolen.

Not sure what you mean by security advantages unless your referring to BitLocker drive encryption??

Yes, I keep a lot of personal information on my netbook, possibly more than my desktop as I use it away from home.

Ultimate also shares additional features with Professional over and above the home versions, XP compatibility, networking and remote assistance etc.

Professional may have done, but as I was upgrading anyway from starter, this was the cheapest solution I found.

For a free OS I liked Ubuntu a lot.
 
whats the maximum RAM I can upgrade to in this netbook?

I would recommend any version of Win7 depends on what you need and what budget you have. Google a comparison of windows versions. Alternatively and free there is a netbook version of Ubuntu (Linux) which does most things well.

All OS's that I am aware of will run in 2Gb.

thought about linux? its lightweight compared to most versions of windows and ultimately free. my preference would be windows though as its what im most familiar with. but still a suggestion none the less :)
