Close if it's been posted before.

I thought it would be fun to see what people received and what they thought about the car. Well at least I enjoy seeing what people managed to reserve.

So remember to include, class you hired, the car you received, and the typical engine specifications, also where you hired, for how long and how much and finally how was the fuel consumption, try and give us some figures if possible.

If you'd like to add a picture of the car, go ahead.

Cadillac Escalade, in the US about 700 quid a week, i just asked for the biggest thing they had.

Rubbish car really but comfy and just what we wanted while we were there.

I'd love to be able to give you all that info you require, but I couldn't remember all the car and vans I've hired over the last decade.

Haha, aww that's a shame :(. You see in a few months I'll be going Germany and I've decided to use Sixt for my car rental and have gone with the LDAR class, was hoping to see if anyone else has used Sixt before and also reserved LDAR to see what kind of cars they received.

I've had all sorts even though I always book a Focus/Astra size. I'm Hertz 5 star Gold so I'm due an upgrade whenever they've got something available, normally this is something pretty naff (Galaxy diesel auto last week :( ) but I've had a couple of TTs and a Fiat 500 Abarth in the past.

Wow nice, especially the Fiat. The galaxy though, that's another story :p

Whenever I've been to Germany I've always used Avis as we had a loyalty scheme in my old work. Always went for "hatch" sized cars, but often got upgrades owing to our relationship with them, and depending on how good a mood the person was in. More often than not we'd get a focus or mondeo style of car, but a few times I got an audi A4 or a Merc C220 which was quite a nice. :) Since it was all done on account I can't give you the prices as it's been nearly 4 years since I've worked there.

Last hire car we booked was in Tenerife and used a company called Orcar.

Booked the car for 7 days and just went with the lowest group they had. Some tiny city car with no aircon or anything. Paid something like £70-75 and it included full insurance with no excess.

When we turned up to collect the car the lady on the counter apologised as they didn't have the group of car we booked available so 'upgraded' us to SEAT Ibiza (two groups up according to their website) Had aircon which was nice.

Before taking the car we checked the insurance cover again, and she confirmed we could return it completely trashed. Its true nothing handles like a hire car, especially one with full insurance cover with no excess. The brakes were completely shot to pieces when we returned it.

Recently had a 1.1 (I think) Corsa (2010) from enterprise for a weekend while I was between cars, the next weekend I got a 1.4 (I think) Corsa (2010) with the sport pack form them, their service was great but the cars were terrible, my mothers 2006 Fabia is miles better.

South Africa - 3.5 weeks / Unlimited mileage
I requested a petrol BMW 3 Series
I got a 320i with Nav/climate etc
It cost me £500 with additional drivers
Petrol? reasonable enough when not in "Sport" mode and using a lead right foot. Actual numbers? I estimate around 30-35MPG. Did 6,000KM overall, petrol was cheap :p

Have only ever needed a hire car once - I was given a brand new diesel 307.

Felt very odd driving it; steering felt way too light, so little feedback. It was pretty comfortable for what it was though and cruised happily between Halifax and Nottingham.

Don't remember the cost (it was economical): hired through work. Cheaper than a train for 2 and 2 taxis.

If you were wanting to know that whey didn't you ask if anybody has done so instead of the off chance some-one may have hired with them?

When I wrote off my beloved escort cab I hired a daewoo matiz. The drive to the office was hillarious and dangerous a gust of wind could take you anywhere. the worst part was that when I needed to extend how long I had it for by a day they charged me something like £150... for a matiz..

Other than that I hired some big ass vans for moves, some ldv 2.5 turbo which was basically a huge transit, anyway driving it had a strange effect on me, turning me into an absolute ******.

Other than that ive had bmw's, a merc in Germany which was quite nice not to forget loads of little 1 litre punto's, corsas, and other generally rubbish cars.

Ford XR6 - Lairy and quick! Haha. Only kept it a day or so but the gf didnt like being seen in it, so swapped it for...

Toyota Aurion - Though it was just the usual bland Toyota, unti li stuck my foot down and found a nice 3l V6 engine uner the bonnet!

Usual array of boring and soulless Vauxhall Vectra's/Insignia, underpowered and under-inspiring. I spent close to a year in a hire car(s) waiting for my company car to be sorted. I had to hire it and claim it back through expenses, it was about £200 a week. Had to take it back every month to swap for another one as was racking up the miles on them too quickly for Avis's liking.
