or anyone who knows travel in Germany :)

looking to go to a festival in Schlotheim, Germany.

looks like Leipzig is the closest city for flights.
how much would the train be roughly and how long would it take?

what about from Berlin to Schlotheim?

these would be return fairs i guess

any better ways to get there?

thanks
:)

as the others said, try the deutsche bahn website. sometimes you can only buy ticket/get prices for dates that are less than 92 days away. also check the festival website (i guess its the metal festival in august), they got something about a shuttle bus from muehlhausen trainstation.

DB website I'd say as well
If you need any help gimme a shout, Leipzig airport isn't that big so I don't know if you'd get a direct flight unless you don't mind
Otherwise go to berlin tegel and take the train from there I would have had look but my internet died at home :(

just look on the Deutsche Bahn website for tickets before the event. should give you a price. had a quick look yesterday and it was around 20euros one way i think.

i need to budget a train cost to see if it's feasible before i go really

20euro, was that leipzig to Schlotheim?

fair enough though i'll put dates in for next month I guess and hope fairs don't suddenly double :p

edit: whats the most likely berlin departure place, there's about 15 of them

berlin hauptbahnhof = berlin main trainstation :)

Not a useful comment, but that is one amazingly good-looking building in the flesh.

That's the biggest and most busiest station in Berlin so I'm guessing youcould get a train from there but I don't know where you are arriving in Berlin so kinda makes it difficult to say where you should depart ;)

you could even ask them for the best options:
Booking Enquiry
or contact their booking centre or partner agencies and ask for your best options.
Booking Centre
They might be able to find you cheaper tickets as the normal ones on the websites. special offers arent that easy to find on the website.

if you go via Berlin Schoenefeld, there is a train (Airport Express) that takes about 28min to the main train station.

Spoke to my german mate said, its around 30 euros train will take 3-4h on the train from Leipzig >Schlotheim or 7h on the bus/coach!

I'd definitely use the DB website, it's what I use when ever I travel via train over here. If you get an e-ticket, make sure you've got the payment card you used to buy the ticket with on you when travelling, as they compare it to the printout :).

Also, it is quiet a bit cheaper when you book in advance :).
