Easiest way for them to abbreivate Volkswagen though which basically means 'People's Car'. Just putting 'V' would be too lazy for Germans!

It is pronounced Lurva, same u sound as further

v in german is f, w is v, pronunciation wise, e on the end is pretty much an 'a' sound as in apple

It means lion which in dutch is leeuw pronounced lee-oo, a lot of german pronunciation very close to dutch so it may very well be close to the same but she will have to verify that for me.

the closest approximation she can come up with in english would be lovuh , the o said like the o in world and the v kind of half way between a w and a v
