GIGABYTE P67 Recall B3 Revision Swap out

Out of interest, how are Asus dealing with these B2 issues?

Hey mate,

Currently as I understand it - they are doing bugger all until May. Which is why I'm sending my board back for refund instead of getting it replaced. Never will I buy anything asus again.

Possibly going to sell my cpu and ram and just go back to my i5 760 setup too - wish I'd never upgraded! :)

Thanks, that sounds about right for Asus, I've tried to get a board changed under warranty with them in the past, and that also turned out to be a but if a nightmare... I'm now more than happy using a Gigabyte board, and after seeing this thread I think my next board will be Gigabyte also. :)

Although Asus in America are giving users the option of an advance replacement, here in the UK (unlike Gigabyte and MSI) they are saying that they will send a courier to collect the 'old' B2 boards first, and will then send out a B3 replacement after 7-10 working days.

Not good at all!

I had the phone call this afternoon from Gigabyte UK tell me about the swapout also that they have sent me an email with the form to fill in , only problem now is my B2 UD7 latest beta bios is so awesome that i am loathed to change over :)

Put your Ram in your i5 System :)

I've always liked Gigabyte boards, my old x58 ud5 was able to run my D0 920 at 4.4GHz prime and linx stable 24/7, but I decided to sell it and get an RIIE instead only to find that the same chip can only do 4.2 on the Rampage... :(

Wish I just stuck with my ud5...

Seriously trying to hold back from upgrading to Sandybridge based rig, but these crazy clocks people are achieving with these chips is making me REALLY jealous!!!

Gonna try and resist until LGA2011 boards hit the shelves though, but I really don't know if I can hold out for much longer!!!

My experience

Bought 4 Sandybridge boards for work a month or so back, so was planning to swap boards one at a time to keep downtime to a minimum. Registered them when I got them on the Gigabyte website for the swap program but never heard anything.

This afternoon I received an email from Gigabyte (word for word as Awahwah listed) and realised if it can be done Friday then I can swap all 4 out in one hit, but that is only a day and a half away so I thought no chance. I requested Friday anyway and sent the email back. Within 30 minutes I had an email confirming the RMA number and that a courier would be with me before 12 on Friday with 4 new boards and looking to take away the old four. Ten minutes after that, I had a very nice chap on the phone checking I'd received the email, knew what was going on, what I needed to do and was all ready and prepared. If they can back this up with a courier on Friday with the right equipment this will be a textbook example of perfect customer service and Gigabyte will have a customer for life in me.

On a side-note, I wasn't anywhere near as pleased when I bought the boards! Because work have "preferred suppliers" I had to order from elsewhere (DO NOT MENTION COMPETITORS!) and of my 4 brand new, full price motherboards:
- 1 came correctly in a box with all the cables and equipment
- 1 came in a box with no SATA cables and the board put back in the wrong section of the box
- 1 came with no cables, no anti-static bag, and altered overclock & fan settings in the BIOS
- 1 came with nothing in the box but the board (no anti-static bag again) and BIOS settings so altered it wouldn't even boot without kicking into the "overclock/boot-failure" mode.

Moral of the story kids, stick with Gigabyte stuff from Overclockers - you know it makes sense! :)

Had a similar experience yesterday, email with RMA form followed up by a phonecall with a very friendly chap.

Top notch service from Gigabyte, but then I've been buying their motherboards for many years now :).

just got my ud4 b3 swap from ocuk today and very nice i must say go's nice with my new h50 water cooled cpu and gtx 480 oc :)

Yes, at the same time!

You hand over your board to the City Link driver and he gives you a brand new retail packet

Just had a courier at my door to collect a motherboard which I swapped with my etailer 10 days ago. I didnt even know they were collecting

He didnt have a replacement with him either?

Thats very strange, this is the letter sent with an attached form to fill in,so if you didnt fill in the form i dont know how the process got started

Dear Sir,

Please read all of the following carefully:

This is the Returns Dept at Gigabyte UK (GBT Tech LTD).

We are now in a position to swap out your B2 motherboard for new replacement B3 6 Series. Please follow the below advisement and instructions as set out below. This will be done by courier City Link on a deliver and collect basis. That is, they will deliver your new replacement provided you in return hand to the driver your original motherboard which will be returned to us.

Please note: The driver will only leave your replacement with you when you have handed over the original item only. If no collection can be done, the replacement will not be left and we would then have to arrange a new collection date with you or we will require your-self to send in the goods. Packages will be clearly marked “Deliver and Collect Only”. Therefore it is in your best interest to ensure a collection is ready for the courier’s driver when he arrives.

1) Please ensure all accessories are included in the box (Manual, CD driver, cables etc) for collection with the motherboard and where possible, the original retail box should be returned too.

2) Please fill in the attached special RMA form and return back to us by e mail for a returns number. Please fill in all areas marked with the blue “???”.

3) When returning back the form, at the same time please advise best date and address that we can collect from. Please at least allow 24hrs, same day is not available. This can only be a work’s address or home address. We are unable to collect from friends and neighbours as you will be required to sign for the delivery of the new motherboard. If you choose a work’s address please include any building name’s or Dept. names and include a contact telephone number.

4) Once we receive your RMA form back, we will issue you with a return’s number. This must clearly be written on the outside of the package before the driver calls for collection. Please print off a copy of the RMA form and include it in the box.

When we have received your collection date and issued you with a return’s number, we will ship out your replacement board 24hrs before the driver calls so this gives you adequate time to prepare the goods for collection. As City Link deliver on a next day basis, 24 hours is the normal procedure for couriers.

Regards

Returns Dept

I did fill the form in online but then my supplier said I could have the board collected by them and change it for another board, which I did.

The strange thing for me was the fact that the driver didnt have a swapout with him? They must have had their wires crossed somewhere ;)

To follow up my earlier post, courier arrived as promised on Friday before 12 (11.00 actually) with 4 new boards and took away the old 4. All now opened, installed and up and running. Very happy with Gigabyte and I think they have a customer for life in me from the way they handled it.

Also, apologies for mentioning a competitor in my last post (notice it's more been moderated). I was hoping as I was pointing out why, from my experience, nobody should touch them and should stick with OcUK it might have stood. Anyway, apologies again for breaking the rules.

how long where you guys waiting for the replacement after signing up? I signed up on 15/3 and haven't heard anything yet?
