Hi,

I have a Gigabyte GA-M750SLI-DS4 motherboard and since I had it, in Windows, apps like Everest are showing me wrong info. For example, the voltage of the CPU is 1.3V and Everest or any other similar app shows 0.58V!

What's that about?

Also, sometimes during iTunes and iPhone synchronization, the CPU usage goes up to 90-100%, stopping all other apps running. Processes don't show me what is using so much CPU. All I can do is to reboot the pc.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

I would suggest using CPU-Z to check the CPU voltage, it tends to be accurate.

As for the issue with itunes, may I ask what your PC specs are and are you running the most recent version of Itunes?

CPU-Z shows me the same false info. I tried every possible app and all of them are showing me the wrong info.

Regarding my setup, Phenom 9950 Black Edition 4x2.8GHz, 8GB 800Mhz ram, GTX 460 windows 7 x64 and yes always the latest software, inluding iTunes. It has been happening since several versions back.

Ah, it sounds like there is a problem with the motherboard in terms of reporting voltages. Have you tried installing the most recent BIOS (or at least the one that is considered the most stable)?

As for the itunes, does that mean every time you sync it hits full CPU usage, stays there and the system hangs? I have found itunes can be very CPU intensive, are you sure your CPU is stable when put under heavy load and not hitting too high temperatures?

The bios is the latest.

Re iTunes, it doesn't hang the system as such, the CPU usage is only 90-100% and the system becomes very sluggish and very slow responsive, but running.

My system is quite stable, I can do stress tests for both my gpu and cpu and I've had no crashes. I'm using zalman heatsinks, so yeah, the system is stable in general.

Regarding the temperature I'm not sure about this either. Sometimes it reaches over 70 degrees. The minimum I saw (in windows) was 50 degrees. In bios it shows around 39 degrees. Are these temperatures normal for Phenom 9950? It's overclocked a little, 211x13.5

According to this AMD lists the "Max Temps (C)" at 61C, so this could be your issue.

When you have this issue, does the multiplier (and hence the CPU frequency) change at all shown in CPU-Z?

It doesn't look like it is a temperature issue, because I've seen temperatures like that since I built it. I know what the specs show, that's why I wonder whether my board is OK? :>

No the multiplier doesn't change at all.

If you feel the CPU itself is OK, you may want to consider it may be a hard disk/OS issue. May I ask what make/model no. primary storage drive you are using?

For example I used to run a pretty quick mechanical RAID0 array and Itunes did something similar when loading up - making the system feel sluggish when it was loading up and syncing. When I moved over to an SSD this disappeared (although CPU usage does still spike when itunes loads, but this doesn't cause any issues).

Maybe others can give their experiences with loading itunes and mention their CPU and primary storage drive?

Yeah the CPU seems fine.

I have 4 HDDs, one for system and three for files, nearly 4TB all together. iTunes library has files from all over my pc. Probably from 3-4 different locations. That is music, pics, apps etc. though the majority stuff comes from one HDD, and possible very few from other drives, if any.

I hope you have all that data backed up.

Hehe I wish I did. I'm constantly monitoring the state of the drives as much as I can. I'm about to get another hdd hitachi 7k3000 3tb to back it all up ;)

I forgot to mention. It doesn't only happen using iTunes. It also happens when I copy files over to USB flash drive or memory card reader etc. It's getting on my nerves :/
