I heard on the news yesterday. Not sure how they discovered that, but it's quite possible and we do need more and more fuel every day so 49 years will shrink to something like 25-30 years.

Start saving money for a run-on-water-car :D I'm not interested in electric cars.

What are your thoughts?

I'm sure the 49 years of supply would probably cater for growing population etc. unless you got this info from a naff source..

Source please.

As someone working in the energy business I have not heard anything on this and we use a wide range of services for our information. However, if this happened to be then luckily for me and the company I work for, business will be booming.

Found a source:
http://investmentwatchblog.com/oil-will-be-gone-in-50-years-hsbc/

This is according to global economist Karen Ward. I'd like to see the research she used.

After speaking to many experts in the field, I believe that oil won't run out in my lifetime. I remember getting taught in school that oil would be over in 20 years. Psh.

Doesn't matter to me I will be flying around in an x-wing fighter by then. I get one first because I put Jedi on my census form (smug).

Source was the TV, probably REUTERS. I have a feeling that they mentioned HSBC as a source.
Also the supply of coal will last for about 140-170 years.

A couple of years ago it was all "Gas is going to run out in 30 years" etc. Today I heard on the radio that there's now an estimated 200 years of supply available thanks to new extraction technology such as fracking.

I want to know what produces oil.

Did you hear that North Korea donated $500,000 to Japan yesterday? Shock!
