March in London on the 26th?

In fairness, I guess the productive economy would be busy... you know... being productive.

I should imagine everyone not involved in this mobilisation will be enjoying their nice, cosy warm beds!

mobilisation

That's what you call it... Most other people would call it a "waste of time".

Do you honestly think George is going to turn round and go: "Wait a minute, there's a load of left wing sorts marching in london. DAVE! I Say, DAVE! Let's cancel our cut backs".

Fine, you do what you want to do and we'll do what we think is right.

Far from it, but you shouldn't just pick the easy fights and we think this is a fight worth having and one that we think we will win, not at the first occasion, but somewhere down the line we WILL win.

And if we don't win you can undertake much rejoicing in saying "I told you so" and I'll sit there whilst the country turns into a miserable place to live, happy knowing that at least I tried to stop it and I can look my children in the eye knowing I tried to preserve their future and make their working lives bearable, rather than knowingly selling them into the slavery of big business.

Kind of reminds me of the article in the times earlier that I mentioned which states how the Labour party hates the cuts... almost as much as they love them.

Labour are no friends to the people attending this rally. If Ed turns up, he'll probably be lynched. The labour party, in their current form, cannot be the saviours of this country.

Never voted Labour in my life.

Ok, so who would you say most of tomorrow's attendees voted for in may?

Labour.

Lesser of two evils for most people - I just couldn't bring myself to do it though.

They'll be a fair few professionals there tomorrow (mainly teachers) who voted Tory. I'm always pleasantly surprised at how many members in my Union branch are self declared Conservatives - makes me realise all hope might not be lost after all. I'd probably say it's a 60/30 split labour/tory.

Yup.

You know there's a problem when no party represents the people. What do you do with a problem? Fix it.

Sometimes it's simpler to knock a house down and build a new one, rather than wasting time fixing the old one.

:)

By turning up and having a whinge?

And all of what you think is wrong with the country - what are YOU doing to fix it? Or do you just vote for someone and hope they'll do what they said they would do?

I have an opinion, a point of view and beliefs and I'm acting on them.

I don't know. There's a government in power now that got a combined vote of 17,540,578. Pretty good tbh.

Ah, well there is no accounting for greed and stupidity :-)

Ok - off out for another wander to Hyde Park - bbl (much later!).

Awesome, just awesome. You're right!! These cuts are akin to selling our children into slavery!!
I must march!!

Oh, wait, I'm not a reactionary over-dramatist. Yeah, that and the fact I've thought about the cuts rationally and formed a reasoned opinion.

Cuts are necessary, fact. Yes, there are many other things that should be cut before things like health, emergency services and education, but the country is far to liberal to cut benefits to lazy scrotes, and far too liberal to treat prisoners like their in prison than like they're at the Holiday Inn, so the money has to come from somewhere else.

If you want to go to university, pay for it, if you want to live in this country, with the standard of living we have, the freedoms we have, the security we have then pay the taxes required to fund all that, and accept the cuts required to maintain it all.

Which people would that be? The ones that believe we can pull money out of thin air? The Government is doing well cutting back and making the public sector more efficient.
