March in London on the 26th?

Yes. I expect right wing loonies on an internet forum who will never act on their views care because it scares them that people would have the guts to actually do something (at any rate, you obviously care enough to post about it).

I expect the government will care as it is an important turning point in the movement, and any talk of rebellion is bad (see Peterloo Masacre, Tolpuddle Martyrs etc.) - nobody rules if nobody obeys.

And i expect the people to care as they see hundreds of thousands of people fighting on their behalf, as they start to understand that there is an alternative, they don't have to suffer and there is something they can do about it.

And lets not forget this is just the first small step - mass co-ordinated strike action is being organised for the summer (and don't I know it - spent 3hrs in a bloody telecon today discussing it!).

I'm pretty sure that this protest, like the student ones, will have no effect on the governments decisions. So yeah, it kinda is a waste of time but I'd be a hypocrite if I told you not to go!

Maybe it wont change anything.

But then again, I'll probably never be able to do a 720 flip on my snowboard - doesn't mean I'll stop trying though (and yes, it may be bloody painful when I get that wrong as well!).

they can police it lightly and bring the cost down if they so desire.

Yep, they could, but then the amount of money spent on repairing the capital after the rioting would exceed the money saved on 'lighter' policing.
Then there would be the negative effect on public confidence.

Sadly, and it is sad, the police are required to be out in great numbers tomorrow, and are required to be robust in order to protect the city itself.

Are you trying to turn 90% of the population against you and give the conservatives a majority at the next election? Because it sure sounds like it.

As UK Uncut put it - lets make it the day the movements became the movement :)

Predictions:

1. A few thousand public sector sorts go on a march in London
2. Some protestors turn violent
3. The police beat a few commie's up
4. People go home
5. George Osborne contines to eat his filet minogon safe in the knowledge he is doing the right thing.

You're assuming they'll be a conservative government to vote for at the next election..............

The difference is the "right wing loonies" are doing something every day by contributing to the economy by working hard. You're going to cause a nuisance for a day. Besides, there has to be someone to rule, there has to be some sort of civil order, our very design is that we order ourselves into a hierarchy.

What is this alternative? Where is the money coming from? In what way do we spend billions less and maintain all services and jobs?

Just to point out, I am a student, and a tax avoider and proud of it. I have a Cash ISA. Basically you want to tax hundreds of thousands of middle income families. Hang on, didn't that already happen? Pretty sure that middle income households have been the hardest hit over the last decade. Oh what's that? Gordon Brown taxed private pension schemes :o Didn't see them marching.

Having a cash ISA is NOT tax avoidance. Sigh

Besides, we're protesting against huge tax breaks for rich people, not tiny tax breaks for poor people ;)

I assume you are thinking of Sir Phillip Green and his £1bn dividend? He had every legal right to do what he did. No laws were broken so he has done nothing wrong. You may not like it, but there is **** all you can do about it.

*looks at thread title*

Oh well, we've come full circle, bored now

You don't see the irony in protesting against cuts yet in going to this demo you are costing millions in policing?

How do you lot suppose the debt is paid down? Nonsense like higer taxes? ARGH BANKERS!!!!:mad::mad:

?

How do you suppose debt is paid down when there's little or no growth? There are three factors in deficit reduction, spending, taxation and growth. Of these growth is the most important.

You basically want to re-write the entire tax law then? Why not lobby your local MP and get your friends to do the same. By causing violence there is absolutely no hope for anything to get changed.

Who said anything about violence? It's planned as a peaceful protest.

You propose to increase growth rates by keep on running a deficit and increasing our debt levels? That would lead to higher Interest Rates and slower debt repayment. Of course with debt repayments already surpassing the total spent on education what is a few billion more right?
