Golf V6 4motion

As Fox says...

R32 - Top of the range mk4, sporty image, 237bhp 3.2l V6, sports suspension. 4WD.

V6 4Motion - 205bhp 2.8l V6, less sporty image although the optional leather recaros are nice and the optional sports pack improves the suspension. 4WD.

GTI - 150/180 bhp 1.8l tubocharged 4 cylinder, sporty image. Only FWD.

Personally I love the V6 engine and 4WD. But the 1.8t is indeed tunable for less money.

EDIT: I've just changed the tyres on mine after around 15k to 20k if I recall. But I drive like a granny most places. The GTI will be cheaper to run. But it's not a V6 :D

EDIT2: I've not heard about V6 4mo's not making the stated power. In fact I've heard the reverse. Mine has a standard quiet exhaust but apparently they sound fantastic with the right aftermarket one.

Sorry, not sure. A quick google suggests they may indeed have 6 gears and also engine code AUQ. VW will be able to confirm though. Just phone them with the registration and they will be very helpful.

The R32 and 4Mo have 6 gears.

cracking motors :)

my 4mo :)

very understated in standard spec they blend in well and dont scream look at me

200 bhp V6 gives plenty of go and makes the right noises
can be pretty decent on fuel if you dont abuse it.
not very tunable unless you like spending serious money. although there is plenty of options available, their generally reliable too although typical vag issues like coilpacks and cam sensors can rear their heads.

the Haldex system is pretty much bulletproof as long as its looked after(make sure its got history of a haldex service

mods wise its all expensive ;)

you can bolt on the aftermarket supersprint6 branch kits for the R32 but these are expensiveand no longer in production Dubpower also offer one which is a lot cheaper and just as good. induction kits take your pick . remaps again plenty of places will hook you up from a cheapo flash map which will net you 5-7% gains right through to aftermarket managment setups. plenty of turbo and charger conversions available if you have REALLY deep pockets but you'd be better buying an R32 in the first place :)

lots of parts interchangable with the mk4 R32 as well btw pretty much the same car tbh.

It's not exactly a nice V6, is it?

Oh I see what you're saying: even the V6 isn't exactly a nice I6 is it? I bet you think that he should buy an E46 with moon miles, or failing that a mk3 Mondeo don't you? You always post the same tripe [TW]

whats the life span on a v6 4mo clutch like? that would cost a bomb to change due to 4wd and by now id imagine most are close to needing one

thanks for the advice guys.

Tuning isnt a problem as im going to leave it standard anyway.

I understand they will be a bit on the thirsty side and thats not a problem.

An r32 is out of budget unfortunately :(

The 1.8t isnt of interest to me

cheers for the links Ill have a read through them in a sec :)

 Yes because Fox is always telling people to buy cheap BMWs riddled with problems. Why even post that? Is it a jealousy thing? U jelly troll?

Wow. Hadn't noticed this. Amazingly hilarious fail on your part.

My point was that the 1.8T isn't exactly a nice V6 - ie, that the V6 4Motion is for some people a better engine than the 1.8T. I was infact complementing the engine in the V6 4Motion. I was suggesting why somebody might choose the V6 4MO over a GTI.

Dear oh dear oh dear. You've perfectly highlighted the point I was making in the other thread.

I'm not sure. But when I was looking at Corrados (similar but earlier evolution of the same engine but FWD) they were being changed anywhere from 90k to 150k depending on how hard a life they had. I appreciate they are much different cars but VW's tend to evolve over time rather than radically change components.

Mines done 56k and hasn't shown any sign of needing it yet (again I'm probably tempting fate there and it will collapse in a heap tomorrow).

the rado would have an o2a generation box with 228m clutch. the 4mo is on a much later o2m with 240mm clutch and silly dual mass. i know the vr6 items to be very hardy and also much simpler to change but id guesstimate 800 ish to do a 4mo clutch and flywheel.

theyre a total swine to get down

Hey, you know far more about it than me. No idea. In fact I wouldn't know an o2a box from a tmobilea box to be honest :)

No, fail on your part Fox. I was joking. :D

Although has it really gotten to the point that you actually thought that someone would post something as ridiculous as that and be serious?
