Volkswagen New Beetle, 4WD version?

My rather lovely other half has somehow decided that her next car has to be a Volkswagen Beetle. Now, IIRC, they're pretty much a Mk4 Golf, but a bit gay?
Did they do a 4WD or any interesting versions to make it a slightly more bareable attraction?

They made the RSi for a couple of years that had the 3.2L VR6 and the 4Motion drivetrain. Quite a rare car though, not many made.

Very true. They only made about 250 of them thought and they go for stupid money now if one comes up for sale.

i think they did engines smaller than 2.0 yknow.

best case could be a 90bhp diesel for that authentic "i really dont care what i drive as long as its a nice colour" effect

A new model of the Beetle is imminent. Loads of spy shots around but it's heavily clad. Looks like it'll have less of a bubble car look about it.

I quite like the Beetle RSi. Seem to be minimum €20k in Germany though. Which is a lot..
