March in London on the 26th?

You seem quite excited.

Excited that so many are marching in the same cause yes but concerned about the anarchist side marches that might want to hijack the day for their own purposes.

Anyhow, need to conserve phone batt now so I can continue to post info to the anti kettling websites and organising facebook/twitter pages.

I'll post an update of the days events when I get back to the hotel later tonight or maybe from the restaurant.

The cause being blame anything but Labour?

I do blame Labour for the mess we're in, as do many others who are attending the march today.

But I also blame the coalition for failing to fix the problems in the correct and fair manner.

I think this whole march is a bit sad really. The vast majority of the people on that march will have little idea of the situation beyond their immediate reaction of "I dont want to have to take a cut in my quality of life".

This is what happens when we have lived beyond our means for many years and said that anyone who doesnt want to work doesnt have to. You can't just draw a line under it and move on. You must try to repair the damage.

Listen to all the interviews today and I would wager that less than 10% of them have anything interesting or valid to say. Of course there are hundreds of thousands of people that work hard and scrape by however they would be fine if we didnt have so many that we willing and happy to do the complete opposite.

I just can't understand how so many people think that their ill informed opinion gives them the right to march on issues that the don't understand.

Want everyone to pay £3000 fees, then shut down all the **** universities and move the funding to the worthwhile ones.

Want more social mobility, then focus on the root issues of poor education rather than relating every little issue in this country to a lack of money.

If there is one thing that we have learnt from the labour government, it was that money has little bearing on the effectiveness of education.

It nearly makes my blood boil when I listen to labour and that **** ed milliband talking about issues with policies that are not in place and have potential to help people. The generation that labour have created are a perfect metaphor for the parties policies over the last 10 or more years.

A sense of entitlement and little thought for the consequences of their actions. Anyone can throw billions at problems and appear to superficially help, but eventually someone has to pay for that. The way it is paid for classically is by the increased revenue your spending generates, well congratulations labour, we have a workforce that is ill equipped to work in modern society, too many graduates with **** degrees and an overinflated sense of self worth, an nhs that cannot be sustained because we have again decided that actions and repercussions have no link. Oh and to top it off those who have worked hard all their lives get a nice slap in the face when they retire.

Lets all march to save the wonderful society and policies that labour championed.

This is what I was getting at earlier. I wonder how many people do this stuff because its a chance to feel important rather than because they actually have a clue what they are marching against and what alternatives they would prefer.

how can you possibly prove this either way.

do you think mob rule is the best way to govern, at the end of the day, the tories got the most votes.

You can't prove this either way, which is why I was discussing the unfairness to quote only 0.6% of the population being in opposition because they made it to the march.

I don't think that mob rule is the best way to govern, however I do believe that protesting is a legitimate way to gain the governments attention and show that a portion of the population feel strongly about a political topic. Many people feel strongly about other political topics but they don't march on them, so I believe a march shows real concern within the general population on a governments decision.

Anyone have 1340 in the 'trouble sweepstake'?? Group of around 200 all dressed in black broken through police lines....

damn, ah well DM i guess drinks are on you with your 7pm :p

Interesting how he wants a robin hood tax yet also wants fairness and equality...

They seem to be just preaching to the choir. If they want to change things try and convince those in favour of cuts.

Here come the store occupiers.

And we now have the first clash between police and protesters in oxford street.

One officer looks injured. Flares and pain-bombs are being thrown outside topshop. Why do they always go for topshop?
