New Corsair Obsidian 650D

ok i worded that badly :p it doesn't use exactly the same fans but imo i'd have liked the 200mm fans at least the same depth as standard 120mm fans: Here are the specs on the 200mm fan:

1000 RPM
92CFM airflow
.713mmH2O static pressure
28.8 dbA noise levels (1M distance free air)
3.72W (@12V)
7V-12V operation

So two of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-061-AK will push more air and be quieter. So a smaller difference than the 600t fans but still justifiably to the right person

I have the old alaska fans. Good in their day but now 4/5 years old. Do you reckon they will still be good enough to use? I don't really know the life span of fans tbh.

the fans are annoying! vibrates like hell on low/medium and a tad loud on high. anyone know what 200mm fans would fit?

if you pop over the corsair forums they are sending out free fans for people who purchased the 650d with noisy fans.

corsair are fully aware of the issue's with the fans on low/medium.

I emailed ocuk yesterday asking if these would have problems with the fan controllers and they said no. So I'm presuming these are the fixed versions and thats why they were delayed.

My guess is that Corsair are frantically trying to get replacement parts/cases out with the fan issue sorted and they're falling badly behind with orders. Bummer!

Some kind of clarification from OCUK would be nice! Was hoping to have this by now.

Stock is due on Monday/Tuesday to us. The cases will have the dodgy fan controllers, but we will also provide the fix from Corsair for you to change it over. (It's not every case either, so you may not need to change it)

Good to know :) How easy is it to change the controller over if needed? I presume it's a simple enough task.

Cheers,

Poor show. I sent you guys an email and you told me they would be fixed ones. Thinking I was just told what I wanted to hear so that I would put in an order.

How does the fix work? Pretty miffed that I have to bodge a £140 case when it's being sold known to be broken. Yes I could wait for fixed cases to be stocked but then I wouldn't have a pc either. Maybe other places will stock the fixed ones. We shall have to wait and see.

Can you tell me who replied to your email? As nobody asked me if the stock was going to be fixed! I would be the only person in the company to actually know.

I need to beast whoever replied to your question.

Michael Ohara. I am extreamly unimpressed and sadly not surprised. This is not the first time I have been fed total B.S to get a sale.

I take it then that ocuk will be buying the (presumerably) cheaper broken corsair's to sell them at the same price for a higher profit margin? These cases should be sold cheaper as a result.

I might cancel my order to be honest. It is just as well I happen to be frequenting the forums a lot recently as otherwise I would have been most irritated when I opened the box.

This is the kit you get to do the fix. http://www.corsair.com/obsidian-series-650d-fan-adapter-kit.html Cant be too traumatic :P, looks just like you replace the fan mount grommets and either replace the fan controller or attach some "in-line" device between it and you fans.

I see. I don't doubt it's not too challenging. I simply don't see why they should be shipping cases they know to be dodgy and further more why they should be charging he same price for them. Regardless, its not being sold as advertised and if I can get one fixed from the get go else where I shall.

Though to be honest, considering OCUK have already lied to me about it to try and get an order out of me I will probably switch my order over anyway as that is just unprofessional.

8igdave, I would like to apologise about the issue and I have raised this with the Manager of the department he works in, and rest asured this issue will be dealt with.

I understand your frustrations, however there are no 650Ds in Europe for another 6-8 weeks as far as I'm aware other than the stock with the noisey fans. What Corsair have done is emergency air shippped the "fix kits" from the Far East. The cases themselves cannot be air shipped as the costs for Corsair would be massive, they get shipped on container ships which take around 8 weeks to arrive in the UK.

The cost for air shipping a pallet comes in about £500 a pallet and when there are only 10 cases to a pallet then I'm sure you won't want to pay £50 more. I wouldn't.
