So what foods do you go out of your way to deliberately avoid?

So you avoid pasta that isn't wholegrain and white rice? What do you substiitute them with? Brown rice or basmalti?

Generally, no pasta at all in my diet :p

A strict day would involve carbs only from lentils / beans.

It's insanely hard to do, currently going for some controlled fat loss and have lost a stone since xmas so fairly pleased.

The last week has been a bit slack though :o

What do you mean by a salad? I'd class some lettuce, and cucumber on the side of your plate as a salad. How come you've never eaten one?

well, i have lettuce in sandwiches occasionally :D but thats about it, i've never eaten one as or part of a meal. They dont appeal to me and seem a bit dull :)

I always remove any visible fat from meat etc, like on bacon and ham, some people eat it and eat all the fat on steak etc but i just couldn't do that

Any one do the same or think im weird?

Fair enough if it's your own preference of taste, but it's the excess carbs you really have to watch if you don't want to get porky!

You should go out and buy a bag of rocket salad, just to try it. They are really tasty. I often sit on the train munching a bag of salad instead of crisps.
A well made chicken Caesar salad is fantastic, but admitably quite hard to find.

The fat is almost as good as the meat! Send it up to me!

Hmm.. I might just do that, it deserves a chance i suppose :) My mum will think she is seeing things though :D

I avoid white bread, not wholegrain cereals inc. rice and pasta, potatoes, sugary foods and drink.

I'm currently trying to east ~2000 calories a day with 140g of protein and as few cereals as possible (minimum bread). It's incredibly hard, so I can't find myself keeping to it too strictly over say a weekly period, but I do stick pretty close.

This is what I might eat in a day.

Breakfast:
4 scrambled eggs + cholula sauce.

snack:
apple, nectarine, grapes, fish oil, maybe a centrum and some vitamin D

Lunch:
Can of tuna mixed with mayonnaise and mustard
cucumber and some carrots

Snack:
Banana, blueberries, strawberries, mango
A green coconut

Dinner:
Steak, salad, a few plums

Snack:
Apple, grapes, nuts, sunflower seeds

I drink full fat milk and eat raw pistachios, walnuts, pecans, almonds, hazelnuts and seeds through out the day as I feel like it.

It's really easy when you make sure to always have the right food on hand. Hardly have to do any cooking or preparation either.

i Guarantee you, my aunt is a leading hygenist in the UK - more damage has been done to your teeth from dentists poking around than by a drink that spends a fraction-of-a-second on your teeth ;)

Your guarentee is worthless, judging all professionals on the hearsay of one person, who doesn't know all the people she has spoke of, nor is capable or qualified to make such a judgment call.

Btw, what would you consider a 'UK leading' hygenist?

Anyway, fizzy drinks in large quantities are bad for teeth, and for people with extensive attrition, erosion, abrasion really should be avoided.

OP. Life without potatoes. I simply couldn't do it.
I don't have spuds every meal, or every day, but they form part of a very balanced diet for me.
Are you diabetic?

So white bread is bad for you but brown bread is ok? Yet brown bread will have exactly the same "bad" things in?

TBH it sounds like a few people in this thread are GI diet addicts.:p

I try and eat most things in moderation, however I love fruit/veg and chocolate so eat wayyy to much of them.

On the other hand salad is the most pointless thing on this earth (same with fruit to a degree). Yeah it has loads of minerals and vitamins in but neither fill you up. When I eat fruit I always eat something else as well to actually fill my hunger pangs... Lettuce/all leaves ae pointless because along with the former they also don't taste very nce... What's the point?:p

Non Halal meat for life.

Have stopped eating bread in the last two weeks in an effort to reduce weight, and also trying to reduce my cheese addiction. Currently I only eat red meat as a treat as its expensive and my digestive system is fussy on where its sourced from.

I do the same. I give the fat to the dog. I'll eat crispy bacon fat but I hate stringy/chewy fat. I don't like the taste of lamb chop fat either. Don't like chicken skin either. JUST THE MEAT.

White bread and crisps (except when drinking).

I've stopped buying cheese for my flat because when I do I finish the block in 1 or 2 days.

I recently stopped eating crisps - used to eat 5-10 packs a week and felt it would be easier to stop eating them completely instead of just cutting down. Lost a stone since Christmas purely by not eating crisps any more.

Just last wek stopped drinking regular Coke and switched to Coke Zero. I don't like it as much, but when you go through as much as I do, it was the only sensible thing to do. I don't want to be a fatty.
