So what foods do you go out of your way to deliberately avoid?

Mainly fresh tomatoes, brussel sprouts and cucumbers, hate the taste of all three.

Anything else is fair game, though im on ckd so 5.5 days of the week i eat like a saint, really strict then the rest i eat all the white foods that are supposedly bad for you.

And it's working very well i might add, 11lbs of fat loss in 8 weeks.

Anyway im lucky in that i crave nothing, don't know why but food to me does little or nothing.

On my last bulk it was all low gi, very little sugar, most of my carbs was oats, quinoa are wholemeal pasta.

Pretty much the same, anything high glycemic. I'm not diabetic I just like to eat healthy. The only time I eat high glycemic stuff is right after heavy exercise.

I try to get all my carbs from whole fruit. Sort of loosely based on the paleo diet. I eat as much fat and meat as I want.

I also avoid industrial vegetable fats like soybean oil, rapeseed oil, margarine.
Close, but not completely safe. Fruit's only real problem is the fructose, but it is a bit of a problem, especially if you're trying to lose fat.

Generally, no pasta at all in my diet :p

A strict day would involve carbs only from lentils / beans.

It's insanely hard to do, currently going for some controlled fat loss and have lost a stone since xmas so fairly pleased.

The last week has been a bit slack though :o
...and as a result, you now have mad traps :D

Fair enough if it's your own preference of taste, but it's the excess carbs you really have to watch if you don't want to get porky!
I love you.

Any fizzy drink - I just don't like how they make you feel gassy, my teeth always feel 'furry' after Coke etc too.

I'm also hate the taste of liver and kidney.

Things I will never eat in large quatities:
- anything soy based
- sweets
- cookies
- babies

very rarely consume:
- cake
- white carbs (bread, pasta, etc.)
- crisps
- fizzy drinks

Someone brought up how it's silly to deprive yourself of enjoyable things (or something to that effect), but I don't even like those things any more. For some of the above, if you do find that you like them it's fairly likely that your insulin response is slightly broken [/generalisation].

We are healthier when we do not continually bombard our systems with fast absorbing carbs. This doesn't mean you can never have them, but you do need to be on top of the situation.

Mince at work - Or as is is refered to as either 'Bum and Lips', or 'Arse and Eyelids'

You just know its the nastiest poor quality meat there is!

I avoid shellfish at all cost... although when you have an allergy to a food you do definitely go out of your way to avoid them

A white bread piece and crisps would be right out the window for you then.

I don't particularly avoid anything, I just don't go eat exclusively things that are 'bad' for you.

Smoked salmon - Tastes like gash. Which isnt bad as long as its not a fish.

Avoiding foods for health purporses makes sense.... Not sure why people have kicked off on it.

I'm currently joining the Christians in lent. As such I am avoiding soft drinks for the next while. I wanted to see if I was addicted as I could easy down 1.5 litres a day at various meals. Have to say I miss the taste more than the caffeine and sugar etc.

But will I avoid them when it's over? Definitely not, because if you then fall off the wagon you'll binge. Instead I'm going to limit it to one bottle a day.

I don't see the point in blanket banning of foods unless you have some sort of condition.

I disagree.
Put a peanut on my nephews tongue and he would have a good chance of dying.
Put a peanut on my eldest daughters tongue and she would be very ill.

It's pretty obvious allergic reactions are an exception.

I do an hour of exercise 6 days a week so the muscles/liver is constantly being depleted. I think the fructose problem is from people sitting around doing nothing and eating refined fructose like HFCS and fruit juice and turning themselves in to foie gras.

trying to lose weight as i have put on more than 1 stone since giving up the fags,
so basically anything thats nice :(

Not really. Certain foods are bad for your health. Sure, you're not going to die from eating a slice of white bread but that's not to say it's not bad for you.

Same goes for Coke. (Yes I'm talking about the drink!)

Tbh those extra years that you will live will be the same years where you loose control of your bladder and ablity to look after yourself.
I'd rather eat what i want and die with the ablity to go to the loo without wetting myself.

the things i do avoid are:-
* Mushrooms, really don't like the texture
* store cooked prawns like in salads too many bad experiances
* soya, taste like crap.
