Hi guys,

I started a thread months ago saying i would liquid cool my TJ07 and you guys helped me out by giving me links to build logs - thanks for that.

I've finally decided to liquid cool early next month when i've got some spare time.

I currently have £500 but i would like to do it all for £400 if possible so i can get THIS but i know how unlikely that will be.

I've done loads of research and so far have come up with this list:

and

Anything you would change?

I decided to keep nearly everything EK to ensure compatibility etc.

I still do have some questions:
1) what are nozzles?
2) what are the thread sizes and barb fittings?
3) Why would RJKoneill rather use sello tape instead of compressional fittings?
4) what fans are the best
5) how much coolant will i need?
6) how much piping will i need?

My aims for this is to make my rig look epic whilst remaining silent.
spec:
i7 930
GTX480 SOC
8800GTX
1 WD caviar black
hopefully an SSD or two
Silverstone ST1000P
TJ07
Asus P6X58D-E
Creative X-Fi titanium
6GB RAM

I hope to fit a 360 and a 480 rad in the bottom. I won't be liquid cooling my GPU's but i probably will with kepler and 7XXX so want my loop to be ready. I want to get a 4.2ghz overclock on my CPU aswell :)

Any input is greatly appreciated as this will be the first time i have ever modded my computer.

personnaly i wouldnt use jubilee clips for asthetics reason only...buy plastic snap clips instead or even better compression fittings which i think look much nicer

1. nozzles/fittings are what you put your hose over on each of your parts...each block rad res will have 2 nozzles which are in and out...
2.thread sizes are the threads on the barbed fitting normally g1/4 ..the thread spins into the block or res etc etc.....barb fittings have a barbed end on them that the tube goes over then you put your jubilee/snap clip on and it makes it near impossible to pull off
3.he must not like them? i use bitspower compression fittings..they look amazing and function perfectly
4.for a rad?...something with excellent static pressure like an apache/noctua/viper
5.2 litres
6.get 2 mtrs

5ghz on a i7 930 you aint going to get unless your using a chiller or liquid nitrogen...also you dont need to use all EK if you dont want to its all pretty much compatible
just to give you an idea im going to be buying a 480 and a 360 rad in my next build with 8 fans on the 480 and 6 on the 360 both in push/pull..thats 14 fans just for rads at say £12-£20 a pop
may want to factor this over looked cost into your build....

Sorry, meant 4.2ghz on the i7

You wont fit a 480 & a 360 in the bottom chamber,you need to fit a 480 & a 240 rad.

The best fans seems to be scythe gentle typhoons i have them fitted to my radiator & have replaced all my other TJ07 fans with them.

Also your best using distilled or de-ionized water & also a silver kill coil,if you are after colour it's best to get coloured tubing.

If you decide to use 1/2 barbs best to use 7/16 ID 5/8 OD tubing.

And i'm sure RJKoneill is now using compression fittings.

I want coloured liquid for the reservoir at the front. hopefully something that's UV reactant. I saw quite a few that prevent muck building up so i wont need a kill coil. I also saw that some liquids will bring the temps down a bit. Is that true or just BS?

Because you will loose room on one side with the powersupply fitted, you would be better off replacing the 360 slim with an EK 240 radiator (which should perform better or on par with a slim 360 rad)

I'm using UV red tubing and an xspc bay resorvoir which comes with 2 x 5mm led holes, once the led's of your choice (I've used red ones) are fitted it will light up the clear water.

Over time all coloured liquids will break down.

most water cooling modders use distilled water/de-ionised water and a silver kill coil.....if you go down the coloured route eventually you will find yourself just using distilled and kill coil....ive used fluid xp and feser fluid in the past...fluid xp was good but silly money and feser wasnt good because after a short while it started to seperate in my blocks and leave junk...since going distilled and kill coil..no problems... you get some decent dyes i think....mayhems if i remember correctly.....maybe use this if you want coloured water...my temps dropped 2c when i started using distilled water...

The EK Rad is 400mm long. Are you taking into account the wires coming from the psu? Im using a OCZ 500w which is a rather small psu and there is no way I could safely fit a 360 rad in there along side the psu.

Ah, right. thanks for telling. 240 it is then. my PSU is pretty small aswell

Ok. I think that would be the most sensible option. Is it possible to mount another 240 at the top?

You shouldn't need to as you'll have 720's worth of cooling which will be more than enough.

Remember to buy both a 480 & 240 rad stand to mount the lower chamber rads.

Should still be plenty.

With a bit of work and perseverance, Yes. It has to be an extra slim rad though and a little bit of modding has to be done. Also, unless you want a bodge job then you realistically have to get a rad grill to screw everything together.

Honestly, A 480 and a 240 should cool most things. Cant imagine you needing anything more.

k thanks. How should the loop go? reservoir - pump - rad - CPU - GPU(later) - Pump???

Cleeecooo, the only thing you seemed to have missed off both lists is a pump top for ddc pump.

Along as it starts with res - pump after the pump it really doesn't matter that much.
