Tempted, but never heard of half these games as I was a Nintendo kid![]()

I can never understand why Revenge of Shinobi is never on any collection on any platform.
Yeah for the Sega MegaDrive Ultimate Collection for 360/PS3, this was one of the most weird exclusions. If they have Shinobi 3, why the hell not it's predecessor. Shadow Dancer is another one that could be included too.
), so when I get the chance to have a serious 90s session, I use the equipment the games I liked the most to play them on, for the proper experience.Sword of vermillion was fantastic. As mentioned it was expensive but wow what an engrossing game of its day.
If only they had Saturn games (Shining force 3 and Panzer Dragoon saga pls Sega)
I've got it displayed in my games room.Because of copyright issues regarding certain boss characters (many of which were based on cultural icons) there were at least four versions of the game in Japan and North America, with the later two also appearing in Europe.
Software revision 1.00 (1989): Bosses clearly resembling Godzilla, Spider-Man, The Terminator and Batman are present. Both Spider-Man and Batman are actually fake representations of themselves conducted by someone able to morph into his shape when enough damage is inflicted.
Software revision 1.01 (1989): Batman is replaced by anime character Devilman. Godzilla, and Spider-Man remain unmodified, the latter still morphing into the bat-like creature when defeated. Enemy soldiers with flamethrowers are also changed to bald men with headbands away from their original likeness to Rambo (coincidentally exactly the same thing Sega did with their earlier game, Secret Command).
Software revision 1.02 (1990): The fake Spider-Man is now redesigned into the licensed character from Marvel Comics, acknowledged by a copyright notice (Sega already had the license to the character for another game they were developing at the time, The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin). Since he is now the real Spider-Man, he doesn't morph into a bat-like shape and actually leaves the battle when enough damage is inflicted, with Devilman entering to replace him. Godzilla still remain intact.
Software revision 1.03 (1990): Godzilla is replaced by a skeletal dinosaur. Everything else remains intact from the previous revision, including the licensed use of Spider-Man. This version was used in the Genesis 6-Pak cartridge.
Software revision 1.04 (2009): Since the licensed use of the boss Spider-Man was for a limited period of time (the license is currently owned by Activision), the game was subsequently prevented from being re-released in recent years on compilations and digital download services. The 2009 release for the Virtual Console features a new specific software revision (1.04) that omits the Marvel copyright notice and replaces Spider-Man with a pink palette swap of the character that still behaves the same as the licensed Spider-Man.[2]

there were 4 versions of revenge of shinobi apparently!
Oh that's right, there was the copyright issues with the bosses. No wonder!
I still have the first revision with all the bosses since it was this and Altered Beast that were the 2 games that came with my MegaDrive as a kid.
I remember The Terminator boss going green like the Hulk as well.
I never went for the Saturn, mainly due to the fact I was working to hard and would have had very little time to play on it.
The games you mentioned are supposed to be classics too, SF3 in particular.
I might pick one up now actually...
Due to it's lack of popularity compared to the Mighty Megadrive, I fear we won't see a collection, but a dreamcast collection has come out so you never know (it has jumped from Megadrive compilations to Dreamcast, so seemingly forgot about the Saturn)
THe Saturn was the best console imo, The games were truly excellent.
