I have had my ASUS GTX 480 for about 3 weeks. The last few days or so it has started to make a high pitch squealing noise when at maximum load doing folding, is this normal? It is not a loud noise just a high pitch noise just audible over maxed out case fans very annoying though. Also when I overclocked it the noise changed pitch and became higher and louder.

Try manually adjusting the fan speed on the card and see if the pitch of the squeal changes - if it does then its the bearing in the fan - if its only three weeks old then you're probably best trying to get it replaced.

I tried that, went from 50% - 100% and no change, I also stopped the fan and still the same so it's not the fan.

Hi, just a thought l had a motherbroad that use to squeal, it was due to one set of drivers, can't remember which one. But as soon as l changed them the squealing stopped, try another set of drivers.

It's caused by the windings on the coils vibrating at a certain load. You can't really do much about it, except maybe take a hot glue gun to all your toroid coils.

Ah I see, is that on the motherboard or the card itself? If it's the motherboard will a new one of the same model be just the same? I am waiting to send my B2 board back to MSI for a B3. My 2yr old daughter is complaining of sore ears and mine are starting to ache a bit too now, not so much whilst on the PC but once I leave, still have a ringing, but as I said it's a quite squeal just the pitch that hurts :(
