On a modest overclock up to 4.2-4.4ghz.

I am after a really quiet solution. Right now my eyes are on the Noctua NH-D14 however i don't rule out a water cooling setup just for my cpu so long its very quiet. The corsair h50 isn't that quiet so i'll pass. Any other recommendations?

I am running a very quiet machine so i care a lot about things being dead silent.

you can do 4.2ghz quite easily on the cooler provided with the cpu, you can probably get away with 4.4ghz on it to be honest

its the voltage on the 2600k that will stop you not the heat.

you will damage your cpu if you use it long term over 1.38 volts, so its all about how fast you can go in that voltage range.

I have a venomous x rt and at 4.6ghz with 1.38 volts my temps are 60 degrees, and the fan on the heatsink is only 600rpm and its totally silent.

Heat with these processors isnt the issue as they will overclock to over 5ghz no problems and still remain within their heat limit.

So really no point in going overboard on cooling.

i stuck an extra fan on my venomous xrt (akasa viper) and it brought my temps down 10 degrees in push pull config.

The coolers above will still be overkill for those speeds you want, i can run 4.4ghz with 1.27 volts at 50 degress even with the single 600rpm fan i got with my cooler

Ok thanks for the advice guys, I safely believe now that 4.5ghz will be fine with my Noctua cooler and looks like i can bring the double fans rotation speed down so i won't be able to hear them.

Lastly usually after which speed voltage needs pushing?

This is driving me crazy

I bought the Noctua NH-D14 only to find out my vengeance ram dimms won't have enough clearance due to their high heatsink.

Obviously i'll be selling this Noctua now and am looking for a decent and QUIET alternative.

I looked at Noctua NH-C12P SE14 but I have concern I may have the same problem.

Any other coolers that are dead silent/adjustable fan speed with low maintenance?
