building around a RESERATOR1 V2 Fanless Water Cooling System (w/WB5+)

Im glad you didnt link to the psu, i probably would have bought it !!..on with the fun. Im off the idea of the reserator kit, i still want to cool passively but i will just end up swapping out lots of bits and peices overtime so i might as well do it bespoke from the start, been reading up about mixing alloys, is this really a major issue ? i see there are coolants that impede corrosion but then people argue that pure distilled water is better, so if i spend on all copper blocks is the rad going to be copper inside..am i wasting money buying copper,a bit like an audiophile would buy a £700 phono cable because it is gold.

This is the cabinet my case is in, as you can see i have plenty of room around it to put a nice rad, i could if i wanted to, remove the shelf and put in a standard tower case (my case is the top left unit) but i like the rackmount it looks less obtrusive when the flaps up but it means pulling out the cabinet to remove it so i would need to be able to isolate the rad...

please recommend a rad, pump, fixings, tubing and blocks for the geforce 9600GT (full block?) and i7 SB cpu..i assume the rad will be the revoir as well ? £250 is not to much of a problem to spend..if i find this doesnt cool as expected i will just add to it.

If you really want it external phobya do a stand that can house the rads, pump and res.

I was originally looking at the reserator so i only want the rad external, pump can be inside the case. Can the rads lay flat ? then maybe i could put some REAL slow spinning fans on it ?..pump inside and quick release couplings to the rad end..but then i gotta power the fans externally...this is getting deep:confused:

No from what ive seen m8 that stand up in the mount they do loads of diffrent ones though from double 120mm to triple 120mm ones, also seen 140mm and 180mm fan rad mounts too if you look about sure you will fine them easy enough m8.

When you say stand up in the mount, is that to the case ?....i have my i7 and new board running with a stock cooler..man its frigging noisy and yo yo'ing.

i want to purchase my parts this week as i have the following week off to get it up and running.

Im just not sure whether to go for the passive, i want to try it, but then if my temps are to hot i want to be able to stick a fan or 2 onto the rad..i want the rad to sit outside aways from the case...possible ?..how do the fans then get thier power ?

You can easily run some wiring from an internal molex plug in the PC itself. Just get a molex extender and lop one end off and solder some wires to it, run this out through a pci slot or something and connect to your fan wiring assembly.

ok..thanks for all your comments....i think i know in my mind what i want to build now so i will start another thread to ask about the couplings and tubing diameters
