March in London on the 26th?

You really missed the point :)

No he's spot on - and that boiled down to what the march was all about yesterday

Selfish people who are all NIMBY's - overpaid and underworked public sector jobs that we couldn't afford in the first place which made people dependent on a single party. You do realise that was the reason Labour was doing what it was doing? It wasn't out of the kindness of there own hearts, it was a play for power from the very begining.

Get a large chunk of those people into privite sector jobs and the voting base for Labour reduces as it's the conservatives are the ones that reduce the tax burden for everyone. Labour are scared ****less of that happening.

Yeah, but the lefties don't like elections when they don't produce the results they like... hence they riot instead.

It was anarchists that rioted, the main body went off peacefully. The police confirm this to be the case.

I expected this usual twisting of the truth from you. Do you work for Tory Central Office???

Did anybody catch Ed Miliband's speech at Hyde Park...? :( Comparing the march against the spending cuts to the suffragettes and the American civil liberties movement... Unbelievable.

Nope, he gave it far too early and as a result of the idiots that caused trouble I never made it there.

I do, and it doesn't involve such drastic cuts in such a short space of time. As I've said, I don't agree with the severity of the cuts.

I do apologise for not having a budget laid out in opposition to the ConDems but that's not really my job is it?

The cuts are not drastic. You have been misled :)

I'd bet good money what on images people will remember today the most, all your work on the march has pretty much gone to waste because of 300 people rioting.

It should hopefully have the desired effect as a deterrent and everyone will stay at home then.
:p Yeah, murdering protesters can really calm a situation down.

Don't think anyone has said that, however they did give them a platform and reason to cause the violence (unintentionally).
Should we ban football matches then?

The marchers yesterday bear no responsibility for the few hundred violent protesters.

Such division is irrelevant in the UK, the only thing stopping the have nots becoming haves is themselves.
Dolph, this is absolutely ridiculous and you know it. The UK has the worst social mobility in the Western world - the biggest determining factor of your economic class as an adult is your class as a child.

Someone born into a broken home in an area with crap schools and nothing but menial jobs is far less likely to end up swanning around the City than someone who has their education paid for by their parents.

Dolph did specifically say, 'the lefties'. Anarchism is most certainly not a mainstream movement across the left.

It doesn't matter if it's a "mainstream movement", the implication was that they are outside the left which they certainly are not.

Do you think we'd have had anarchists rioting in London with the union organised protests?

Do you not review history and realise that the two go hand in hand?

I have to disagree. Dolph originally stated that it was 'the lefties' that were rioting, which implies that only people that aren't on the left were protesting peacefully, which is so blatantly not true that nobody should have to point it out. The reply was making the observation that 'It was anarchists that rioted, the main body went off peacefully', quite clearly not implying that 'the anarchists' were not part of the left.

And Labour (and the left generally) made the problem worse through welfare dependency, ending selection in schools and so on.

But you do confuse social mobility with the possibility of moving up. Anyone can move up, social mobility is a measure of those who do so successfully. Having low social mobility doesn't mean you can't move up, it means the state has made it harder to move up through bad choices.

ok ok ok i geddit

cos the banks got in debt and leveraged their investments and did really well, we are going to keep spending and leverage up to invest in our economy and achieve the same kind of success the banks did.

Glad i cleared that up- the protestors approve of bank methodologies

And the biggest thing with social mobility or lack of, is not government but parents. You find a huge number of children that have decent parents end up better off. This is something that needs to be tackled although not sure how. More training and punishment for problem parents.

yes we're still living in 2006 where we have eliminated risk thanks to the kind minds at JP Morgan & co with their wonderful CDO structures. Time to crank up that deficit some more
