Student Grub: Making Instant Noodles *Better*

10/10 as a student this has increased my cookery skills by 100%.
Next week I shall try and master the art of toast, many people believe this above me but I need to prove that this is not just limited to experts.

you may laugh, but i know many fellow students who find anything more complex than "put it in the oven" to be beyond them.

these are people who, for example, could not cook a scrambled egg.

I think the trick with toast is not to leave it. I haven't got the hang of that yet.

One of my flatmates fry's precooked pasta with mince until until its purified to carbon, and pours on cold sauce.....disgusting

Too much of the picture is in focus, try again with a shallower DoF.

i'd be happy to, if i'd had my DSLR with me like i said :p

f/1.8 at 28mm creates nice shallow, Raymond_Lin-style Depth of field which we're all so fond of :D

Students 'eh?

Standard meal for me is chicken breast (diced) onions, garlic, mushrooms, peppers, chillis and pasta. Takes about 10 minutes. Easy, nutritious, cheap. It's shocking what some of my mates eat at uni. I'd rather have decent food and opt for cheap booze on the nights out if money is an issue.

Fail.

If you want good noodles, you need a saucepan to keep the water at near boiling temperature whilst cooking.

Also those beansprouts are horrible. They should be as white as the chopping board and they shouldn't be chiopped. I work for one of the largest beansprout suppliers in the UK and we won't sell to any of the major UK supermarket chains. The beansprouts they supply have been handled too much and aren't really fresh. If you want good beansprouts go to a chinese supermarket, in the afternoon, after the previous days stock has gone and the fresh stuff is on the shelves.

And finally, eat noodles with chopsticks.

if i wanted culinary perfection, i wouldn't be shopping at the Tesco Express that's up the road from me.
This is just a quick-easy convenience that is based on the fact that i have a stock of noodles in case of emergency, and i wanted to do something with them.

Oh, the beansprouts tasted okay actually :)
i wish there was a chinese supermarket nearby, but i don't have a car and central Coventry sucks for diverse food retailers :p

Lastly, i'm perfectly happy to eat noodles with chopsticks when i'm at a restaraunt, but at home i don't see any reason to stand on ceremony

fail. why didn't you just put the noodles between two slices of bread? or if you're feeling a bit Jamie Oliver; have the noodles on toast.

Ive been living on noodles for years.
Concluded that bare minimum is noodles stuffed into Pittas, and if i can be bothered, stuffed into Pittas with slice chicken things. lol.
Although the 'curry' flavoured noodles are pretty lacking flavour wise.

This thread makes me remember how I'm lucky to have a girlfriend to cook for me most nights, I should be more grateful or I could end up with super-noodle sandwiches for dinner again.

This is what I did, get jars of Oyster sauce or Black bean, cook noodles in water like you did in the bowl, drain it after a while (not all of it) chuck in some stir fried veg and some pre cooked chicken you get in those packets then throw in some sauce from the jar. 20 secs in the microwave, stir it, and bobs your uncle.

EDIT- Basically do what you did, but add Oyster sauce LOL
