Student Grub: Making Instant Noodles *Better*

i think the split between those who think this is good and those who think it's a travesty is interesting.

can we have a poll, possibly with a student-option?

like:
"I think this is great and i'm a student"
"I think this is great and i'm not a student"
"I think this is a horrific travesty of culinary brutality and i'm a student"
"I think this is a horrific travesty of culinary brutality and i'm not a student"

Pancake :p

I wouldn't put anyone off trying to cook. Well done OP, keep it up :)

oh, i wouldn't call it cooking - i may be lazy, but i'm under no delusions about this being cooking.

I can cook, and when cooking for multiple people i'm happy to do so, but when it's just for me i don't make much of an effort :p

Cooking is all about planning and execution. While you are waiting for the noodles to be done etc, you could be cooking that chicken!

I was a student a few years ago myself and I did have some go to meals that were simply there for a bit of taste and a filling nature. If I was after a big meal it would just be pasta, cheese and tuna. Cook the pasta, grate cheese into it, put on hob to melt cheese onto pasta and then pop the tuna in and mix. So it would be rather hypocritical to put you down over the effort you put into this.

Food is food sometimes but I try to be as clever as I can with it to save money. You can get 3 chickens for £10 at supermarkets that will be as good quality as that and you could roast one in the afternoon which would take 5 minutes prep. That would save you lots of money and save you trips to the shop! Bulk cooking is what its all about.

i'm a student and think that's pretty terrible. i'd never buy those packs of pre-cooked chicken, they are nasty and so expensive.

Koka noodles are a bit gash.

My favourite easy meal is mince and spaghetti, it's like spag bol but easier.

I don't even cook my super noodles half the time. Open packet, crunch up noodles a bit, pour in flavour powder, shake, eat.

Awesome breakfast while walking to uni.

Did anyone ever try them noodles that were made by pot noodle? You could get them in the same flavours, e.g beef and tomato etc. They were pretty good actually, loads of flavour.

Thanks OP for reminding me to dig out my old thread (assuming it hasn't been deleted), got some good stuff to put in there along with my pancake day concoction.

I thought students were poor?

£5 Tesco finest pre cooked chicken?

2 value breasts, uncooked = £2 iirc - thats a £3 saving.... which could go toward a desert upgrade or even a beverage to accompany said meal
