Something a little different for a Monday morning.

Ever feel like you've lost your sense of humour for prolonged periods of time?

If so, what was it like? How did you deal with it?

Cant say ive experienced this yet in life...... if anything my sense of humor grows worse everyday.... internet numbs you -.-

I've noticed that I find a lot of things less funny these days. For example, I just sat and watched some stand-up on youtube and barely raised a grin; it's just like I've heard it all before.

Even some 'funny' threads on here lately, some individuals are in hysterics. I can see why something is funny, I just don't seem to be amused myself.

It's like the cynical humour I've fostered has disappeared and just left me cynical.

Mine goes every time I sink into depression; I lose my ability to crack jokes first, then I stop being able to appreciate them. It tends to become more dark and sardonic before that happens. There are some things that can almost always make me laugh though; Bill Bailey's "cover" of Lady in Red, for example. It usually comes back when the depression fades again.

Yes, I know what you mean, but I assumed that was simply part of the ageing process. It seems that you find less humour in things as you get older.

I often find myself the only one not laughing like a hyena at the latest fart joke. Or sometimes when the witty retort is along similar lines of no, you are.

I put it down to age and experience.

Sometimes, when I look at all the numbing 'I'm a jedi' type stuff in GD, but then someone will slyly slip in a dry quip and I have to laugh at their cleverness :)
Cracking your own jokes helps, which is more about paying attention to what other people are saying.

I reckon being able to laugh at yourself is key. Taking life too seriously is a road to land of depression.

When you do stupid stuff (im a regular) you get some laughs with your friends, and your outlook on life is that little bit better :)

You should see me in my biology degree practicals, I have a phd student who always keeps an eye on me cause I always do something stupid, like pour agar on to the lid instead of the actual dish bit!

Comes and goes. Sometimes it surprises me. I've not had a proper fit of laughter in ages, but I daresay one will crop up when something novel happens!

I do crack some /awful/ jokes...
