I have the asus sabertooth p67 mobo, it has heat sensors and adjusts fan speed automatically which is pretty cool so im not gunna use a fan controller. I want to kit my antec df10 case out with some good quality, ball bearing, silent fans. that have the pwm feature. My case has 2x 120mm slots at the front, 1x 120mm on the windowed side door so id prefer a clear fan here, 1x 120mm at the back and a 140mm on the top. I dont want led fans as i plan to fit 2 white cathodes inside the case anyhow

I still say the Akasa vipers are some of the best 120mm fans available. There is a bit of noise on them at full speed but not as bad as a lot of fans. The yellow put a lot of people off but a bit of paint and they can be any colour you want.

PWM narrows it a bit, but second the Vipers. Also take a gander at phobya nano-Gs (very similar to the vipers, quieter on high rpm and red led), and Akasa Apaches (less airflow than previous two but quieter).

EDIT: sorry these are for case fans? Doesn't sound very cost efficient. How many PWM connectors does that mobo come with? Usually you get one linked to cpu fan and one extra one (on asus boards).

i like what i read about the sharkoon se new modular 120mm fans on ocuk, they are pwm and have some gd reviews. Theres the sharkoon 800 i could use for the 140mm top fan and thats also pwm, anyone recommend these?

also my mobo is military grade, and has tuf armour which supposedly means it is designed to keep temps lower and can handle heat better. so for this reason i think id be able to get away with using the ultra silent connection with those sharkoon fans and have reduced airflow

I heard those Phobya fans are exactly the same as Gelid Wing fans, so they may also be another alternative should the Phobya ones be harder to obtain.

yes very true, i will only have 2 pwm connections but those sharkoons support 3 pin aswell as pwm. They also have gd reviews and i like the look of them

You could get one of the PWM splitters that are now** back in stock at OcUK... I've been looking into this solution also.

Thanks for the recommendations on fans - the regular sharkoons always get favourable reviews, hopefully the PWM versions are just as good.

could you link this cable please? does it convert standard fans into pwm and allow for more to be connected instead of the 2 standard pwm connections on the asus P67 motherboards?

Arctic cooling f12 pwm fans can piggyback each other on to one header, very handy. wires are skinny tho,so be gentle
Gentle Typhoons are also great fans,i just cant stand the grey fan....

Does that do what, BAppleton said? turn a 3 pin fan into 4pin PWM? or can it only be one way, convert 4pin to 3pin...

Only allows speed control of a 4 pin pwm fan, a 3 pin fan will run at full speed on the akasa splitter.

ok im confused. so if i want 5 fans connected to my mobo and "pwm" i should buy this splitter cable and 5 standard fans or 5 pwm fans?

With or without the splitter if you want the fan speed controlled by the motherboard then you need PWM fans.

The splitter allows you to connect more than 1 fan to each motherboard header. i.e. i run 2 vipers on my H50 and use the splitter to connect both to the cpu fan header

Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd add a question in here.

Apart from the obvious choice of the akasa apache blacks, what are good black or smoky/translucent (colour is important to me) 120mm PWM case fans?

I've only come across a few - bequiet silentwings, enermax UCTB12P, and that's it.

I'm not interested in LEDs, or any other unnecessary features; just like them to be neutral looking - black or translucent/smoky.

Yeah, those bitfenix are nice. Very quiet. Just not PWM.

Not translucent/smoky but...
