Gigabyte UD4 B3 Rev

Cool, just hope that using the onboard doesn't make my game sound suffer with the 5.1 headset I'm getting. Cheers for the info Operation :)

Sorry can't be more specific as I don't use a headset, only little minitor speakers.

The ud4 Spec says:
Audio
1. Realtek ALC892 codec
2. High Definition Audio
3. 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
4. Support for Dolby® Home Theater
5. Support for S/PDIF Out

Don't know if that helps.

It's not bad, but onboard sound is never as good as having a proper sound card (onboard also uses system resources instead of having it's own).

Ok, I have a question about certain info regarding the Gigabyte board I'm going to choose for my new PC, ie. the one detailed in this thread. Why did Gigabyte opt out of an EFI bios? (Yes, I know my terminology of bios in the respect of EFI is wrong, so please don't correct me :P )

They did not opt out. The bios is a Hybrid EFI, what that means is EFI is the back end and the normal keyboard navigation is the front end - very simplistic but will do for now.

I guess they deemed that the way they released the boards would be more stable for a first release of a new Chip-Set. And judging by the number of threads about the boards not working I suspect they got it right about waiting.

The full EFI bios is just a bios flash away, as the bios chip is not the old 16Mbit size but the new 32Mbit. Which means future support for EFI.
