¯\_(ツ)_/¯
After recently discovering a rather spicy pizza at local shop called 'Inferno', it seems that I haven't been able to stop eating them! :D

I do find now that it's hard to go for a few days without eating something spicy now, and I was wondering if anyone has ever been addicted to spicy food in a similar way to gambling or booze?

I'm sure i've read that it stimulates the release of endorpins or something similar. In other words, yes it is addictive.

My GF is addicted to Jalepeno's, eats them straight out the jar :/

Ive done this, i actually really like them.

As for addictive, im not sure, but if it tastes nice whats the reason for not eating a lot of it? :p

I love a good vindaloo or jalfrezi. I'm addicted to hot sauces too, I usually have tabasco on salad (mostly on hard boiled eggs) and put a few drops of Dave's Insanity Sauce in Baked Beans. Om nom.

Congrats whens she due?

My wife loves Sambal, its and indonesian dish which is basically fresh chillis crushed in a motar and pessel like thing and mixed with a little salt and oil.

Its ment ot be a side dish i think but she throws it down along with some broad bean looking things that stink to high heaven.

She once fried chillis that were so hot while i was in Korea with her that it was like someone had set off CS spray in the room and I couldnt breath and my eyes and nose were streaming. She says im a wimp when it comes to hot food but in reality shes has some super human immunity to spicy stuff.

I love hot food.

If cooking at home it has to be spicey/hot no matter what.. The Mrs is the same.

Same goes to Takeaway Food. Compulsory for me.

I do that too, they're super tasty!

Like hot food a lot, but there is a limit as to where it becomes more of a chore than enjoyable. Getting that balance right for everyone can be pretty tricky when cooking.

I love the pre-made Madrass they sell in Asda :)

One tray of Madrass, one pack of Pilau rice, one tray of Bhajhis and a great big Naan bread and I'm landed :D (drooling now... lol)

Once I've had one I find I want one all the time... but after a week or so the urge dies down lol

And yes, before you say it, I am a fat bathplug! LOL

(that said, I'll be having a Texas BBQ from Dominos tonight and the green peppers will be substituted for jalepenos :D mmmmm... Nom in a box!!)

I come from an Indian family. You learn to like it at a young age. It might be addictive as I put chili sauce on a pot of my food.

This.

It's a standard procedure for most asian people to have spicy food. Regardless if they are Indian's/bangladeshi's.
Pakistani's cant eat spicy food, well the people that i know, most of them can't lol.

I've read the same but obviously only addictive for people who can stand it I guess.

I used to love spicy food... Well I do still actually.

I think you build up a tolerance over time and need hotter and hotter stuff in order to get the same kick. When I was 20 I used to think nothing of eating a Phaal. I would always get the hottest variety of everything I could.

Unfortunately now anything remotely spicy gives me pains in my stomach the following day. Guess I must have done some damage somewhere!
