Basically, after about fourteen years (since approximately 1997), Electronic Arts is finally cracking down and issuing DMCA notifications to most — not all! — sites that are hosting the PC version of Ultima 4 for download. This move is not being taken well by many, and people are wondering both why EA is wasting time enforcing copyright on an old game like this, and asking “hey, wasn’t it released as freeware?”

i'm guessing they want to release a new similar product and want to eliminate the competition.

Now thats a funny joke, EA to release a similar CRPG gaming experience to Ultima? Oh yea, a new modern streamlined version for consoles where pressing buttons = awesome maybe :D

for some reason i thought it was about ultima online or whatever the mmo one was called

Given the number of recent fups by lawyers that's probably the mistake that's been made.

We reached the point a couple months ago where companies employing lawyers promising to protect their assets are suing companies their employers have been selling them so frankly, nothing surprises any more. It also makes one question the definition of stupidity.
