Anyone here have one?

A friend of mine has just got this card recently and she's contacted Barclays three times now to request the statement date and the payment due date, which they have not been able to provide her with. They just don't seem to understand the concept of it, and have not been able to tell her how long after her statement date she needs to pay the card off by (to avail of interest free purchases).

If you have this card, can you tell me how long you have to pay off the card by once you get your statement?

She gets paid on the 20th so needs to know this so her payment due date falls after this.

to quote Ts&Cs:

Interest free period

Maximum 56 days from date of transaction for purchases if you pay your balance in full and on time each month.

No interest free period on cash advances or balance transfers (this is subject to any interest free promotional offer).

This suggests a due date around the 26th if her statements cycle on the first of the month or, rather, that she'l have at least 25 days before payment is due.

It's worth nothing that she'll need to make payment a few days before the due date to allow the payment to clear. The call centre should certainly be able to tell your friend what her statement date is. Alternatively, she might be able to get the information (or just change her statement date) from the online banking section.

That's been done, but unfortunately she doesn't have an online statement yet as she only has the card a few days. I had a look online and there's no dates given for anything.

She's a couple of big purchases to make (flights) and would like the payment date to fall after she gets paid.

Like something like this from Sainsbury's is all that's needed; clear and easy to understand, with the option of changing it online if necessary.

Well if the statement has not been produced it won't be for a good while yet. It will tell you under 'Pay your card bill' if there is a payment due. If not it will say 'the minimum =£0.00'

Thanks for that Seft. Yeah, I was very surprised they weren't able to supply the information. She said one advisor just said to her plain and simple "I don't know.". Maybe she might get lucky with someone who knows what they're doing the next time.

Anyone with a bit of competence should be able to work it out. Barclays side, not necessarily you :)
