Is spicy food addictive?

I've more realised that I'd rather enjoy the taste of the spices than burn my tongue off, so instead of vindaloos/madras' I'll have something not as hot but tastier.

I always thought that spicy food was addictive - it leads to an endorphin release which is what the addictive part is I believe. Tattoos are meant to be the same.

I like jalapenos with everything too :(

Home made curries are generally crap compared to takeaway or Asda ones that I get.

It's with the cook then not the curry :p

Yea. I've never had any homemade food better than what I can get from the supermarket.

Even just chopping some chicken and adding a jar of sauce = better than homemade food.

Just about anyone that tries to cook think they are good cooks. I go Gordan Ramsey on them, especially if they criticize me for eating supermarket instead of home made food.

I fully admit that me in a kitchen = letting a blind person carry out cardiac surgery. Yet most people who simply enjoy cooking think they are absolutely brilliant at it, when they are actually terrible and make stuff that I wouldnt even feed to a dog.

I'm sure i've read that it stimulates the release of endorpins or something similar. In other words, yes it is addictive.

I love the stuff!

When getting it from a curry house i get a vindaloo or a Phaal but that sometimes makes me have an upset belly :(

I have to do my own seperate dish if im making for the family as they dont like it hot.

Jalepeno's - had to read that like 5 times before i realised what they were and how to say it :p

I love spicy food. I put chillies or spicy sauce in pretty much all of the food I eat. That's not to say I like the hottest food around, more I just like a mild burn after eating. I'm not sure it is addictive as such, I just know I prefer my food with a kick.

Really odd... Sounds like you're jealous, or annoyed for some reason at people who enjoy cooking. It really isn't that hard once you get into it, and just because people brag a bit about enjoying cooking doesn't mean most people can't make anything you wouldn't feed to a dog...

And you go all Gordon Ramsey on people who suggest making something fresh yourself might be a good alternative to supermarket foods full of preservatives and whatnot?

Each to their own though

Spicy food is very addictive. Thankfully I don't put on any extra weight eating it all teh time so I'm all good :D

Fresh food is great. Most homemade food is less fresh than supermarket food because its been sat around for too long.

I only buy food that doesnt contain artificial additives. Supermarket food =/= full of preservatives if you look at what youre buying.

Im not jealous of people who enjoy cooking, but simply enjoying cooking doesnt make a person good at it. Most people get far more annoyed with anyone that doesnt eat homemade food tbh than the other way around.
