This is an incredibly weird one and it baffles even myself but movies set in a snowy landscape/environments seem to make me fall asleep a lot easier!

Baffling. Perhaps it's a content feeling of being snug and in the warmth? Weird one! Saints and Soldiers, Band of Brothers, movies with snow settings just seem to make me sleepy. Even 30 days of night :p

Anyone get this with other movies?

Snowy landscapes and environments don't bother me at all, I loved and can thoroughly recommend The Edge which has both :)

I have however tried to watch Dune at least four/five times and have never managed without falling asleep or simply growing bored and switching it off!

If its boring then I sleep. Generally its hard to sleep when theres guns and explosions going of every 2 minutes, citizen cane on the other hand....

No idea how you can fall asleep during BoB, the shelling of the forest when you're just about drifting off would make me jump if I wasn't expecting it :P

The only movies (well they're not really movies) that make me fall asleep sleep quicker are comedy tour DVD's. I think its a comfort thing knowing there isn't a bad atmosphere and everyone is having a laugh :)

What happens when you see real snow though?

I get what you mean, perhaps it is a comfort, snug thing! But yeah, the shells exploding are a bit off putting but in general, I'm far sleepier watching them!

I love real snow and get a great feeling of warmth when I come in out of it but it doesn't make me sleepy, exactly. Maybe the opposite because it makes outside appear lighter when it illuminates the street lights :p
