The company I work for has a smallish mezzanine floor installed in the warehouse. However, much debate is arising about the maximum loading it can take. The installer told us 500 kg/ sq m. We have an unevenly distributed load on the floor and some of our stock weighs 450 kg and rests on 4 small feet. I guess I am just asking for some advice from those who have experience of this kind of thing.Is it safe to place heavy units on feet up on the mez?

Whetehr it rests on feet or on something like a pallet it weighs the same. So as long as it doesn't exceed the max loading it's fine.
I would get it in writing from the isntaller though as if it goes wrong the insurance company may ask...

Whether its on feet or not is more a question of the strength of the surface than the structure. It may be able to take 500kg/ sq m but if that's all loaded on four tint feet and the surface is plywood it's going to break through that before the underlying structure gives way.

Yes because 500kg on a pinhead will have the exact same consequences as 500kg on a pallet.
